First of all you said the reason for terminating him because he did not resume duty on time , how can he resume duty when he is still on vacation ? Second terminating for simple reason such as this is stupid. I don't believe a company will terminate him for that simple reason a company will only subtract from his salary such amount prior to the day's lapse according to his return date. Now If he is terminated then that is not the only reason there's more than that. If that is the case , and visa is cancelled he can still come back here with the new kafala system but he has to call the bank and let them know the whole situation and company as well , he has to convince them that he is willing to come back and settle everything .
