I do not agree with 'nothing' particularity when it is so much generalized. Bertrand Russell puts it beautifully "What does not exist must be something, or it would be meaningless to deny its existence".
Hasan Basri died centuries ago and today we are discussing his quote. He himself is certainly not 'nothing'. I believe 'nothing' are those who die without creating impact. Others are 'something'!
