“What shall we do”
Cherrukan... here we cannot do much.. but how many acres of land you have back home? You surely can put a Gir cow that will make do with the grass available from the field. Your family back home will be healthy and you can not only rediscover the art to make butter and ghee at home but make sure the kids have as much ice cream from it as well. I am sure your grandparents used Ghee liberally. Actually we will become more healthy if we discard “refined sunflower oil” “refined corn oil” “refined groundnut oil” etc and cook all food in home made Ghee as today it will be difficult to find PURE coconut oil or PURE groundnut oil.
My next “research” will be on the bad effects of “refined” oil.
I am not sure about the dung taste... that Frenchies claim about... but I have heard about people who have consumed fresh milk without boiling... especially the people who come to milk the cow... and they never had any problem with either the taste or the smell... in fact I have even seen it milked in front of me and never encountered any bad odour as such...
“Milk is not good for humans, period. It’s meant for baby cows, People are not supposed to drink it.”
Baby cows don’t drink full. If a cow is unmilked and is producing a lot of milk then the pressure would be exceedingly uncomfortable and infection could occur. This is true for women also who suddenly have to stop breastfeeding.
All the topic relating to people being allergic to cows milk is due to the A1 type of milk which is not healthy at all. In fact it is truly unhealthy and not fit for human consumption.
LP... at least till 5,000 ago Indians thrived on milk and its by product.. Ghee... all Indian ayurvedic medicines are based on ghee. And I don’t think these morden day guys were around there to check that out.
Best Almond milk ... ground almond into thin paste add to milk... add sugar to taste... awesome
“Are you saying milk can cause these disorders?” – not by ALL milk, but by A1 type of milk. A2 is excellent milk and is even medicinal; there are scientific evidence for it. A Zebu cow can not only withstand Arsenic (a potent poison) but the arsenic doesn’t pass into its blood stream, nor to its milk... meaning the milk is pure and has low fat content.
Soy milk is completely different. Soyabean is vegetable. As Nomerci rightly says, there are claims that Soyabean available today is genetically modified... anyway that’s a completely different subject.
Lactose intolerance... is a symptom consumption of milk from Jersey cow or similar breed... and should not happen with the Zebu breed. Gir have a set of nerves in the hump, getting energy from the sun... that is what sets them apart. Their milk is slightly yellow in colour too. They are also very strong yet social. Some bulls have been known to kill lions that have tried to attack the herd. Gir the place of this cow’s breed is also the abode of the Asiatic Lions.
Yogurt and cheese, milk shake, Ice cream all use A1 milk so they are equally unhealthy. But they would have been so much healthier if it had been made from A2 type of milk.
“scholars didn’t have milk in their child hood” Which scholars?
“That zebu cow does not even look like a cow!” – that is exactly my point. Both these breed look entirely different. Their properties are also entirely different. An European will say that Zebu is not a COW.... Indians also say the same... Jersey cow is not a COW.
“There has been way so much controversy about MILK for a very long time and the truth no one can assert if it is good or bad for you”.
The discussion ends when one is aware about the two breeds and the vastly different quality of MILK & MEAT of both these breed. Jersey’s Meat is good & Zebu’s Milk is good Period.
“I heard that you can go to a camel farm in Qatar and drink fresh camel milk straight from the udder..”...
there are people on QL who attempted to milk a camel unsuccessfully at Darude’s farm outing ... lol
There are farms breeding cow in Qatar. Some years back, Oman made an unusual request to India. The oil-rich Middle East country was looking for four purebred animals of the cattle breed – “Tharparkar” — found only in the dry and arid regions of Rajasthan. Tharparkar derives its name from its unique genetic ability that enables the animal to walk across the massive desert of Thar in Rajasthan, India. It took India several years to procure four genetically pure Tharparkar bulls. Thar-par-kar means the one who can cross the Thar Desert (possible on limited feed).
Milk is also know to be a good cleansing agent. The best way to bath is to bath in milk. It is also environment friendly. Kings and Queens used to bath in it.
