To be fair I think that they are using a model of not over prescribing antibiotics and it is taking people time to get used to it. Many nationalities are used to being given them for anything just in case.
In the UK, even if your child has pus on his tonsils or strep throat, you will be sent home to try and fight it off naturally for 3 days. After that, only if it has got worse, will you get antibiotics. I am a nurse prescriber UK trained and am sometimes shocked by these policies but then am also taken aback by how here, some people take 1 Amoxycillin a day for "good health".
