About your question as to how can a liar influence 500 million people, i don't exactly know who you are referring to as a liar, whether the book or the person. If the person, they are not the one who spread the news but their followers. If you are saying about the book, the answer is they are very active in promoting it and willing to travel across the world. Just like the Catholic faith. In the Philippines, our ancestors used to believe in Nature God, the true God that provides everything. Then came the spanish offering us good tidings and new things, including religion. Religion before was not presented initially, but offered gifts before presenting it. People who don't know anything about what they were saying will not know the truth, so basically, no one will know if your lying if they don't have anything to compare it with.
