u can download a good program for windows.

it is called IPH PC SUITE.

- You can backup all your setting for the iphone.

- you can put ringtones and sms tone

- you can read your sms or notes

- and etc etc 

(u dont need for itunes just to sync)

you can access evrything to your iphone by this.
