vin_doss, Like Dandy suggested, Do a clean restore to 1.1.4 and use Zibri 2.5 to jailbreak and unlock.If you use a Mac let me know, I'll suggest you something else.  

dont do soft upgrade. soft upgrade is a old method.

(soft ugrade at not advisable for this days)

use clean restore upgrade to 1.1.3 or 1.1.4,  then unlock it again by method you know. ok?

and you will be fine.

             I got 1 voicemail call ...and i cannot access my voice mail box...so near by voice mail box its showin one red color dot.....bcoz of tat in my taskbar near by phone icon its showin 1 red color dot...i cleared all recent calls ...but tis voice mail red dot is not goin....so can somebody suggest me how to get rid of tat red dot .....

i will show you a easy way to put ARABIC in your Iphones:

قبل التثبيت سوف نقوم بأزالة النسخ القديمة من علي هاتفك, ان كنت لا تملك فعلاً لوحة مفاتيح عربية تجاهل هذه الخطوة و انطلق الي مرحلة التثبيت

أفتح برنامج  Installer (انظر هنا اذا كنت لا تعرف كيف)

اضغط علي ايقونة Sources في الاسفل علي اليمين  ثم  زر Edit

اذا كان (iPhone по-русски) من ضمن المصادر قم بمسحه

اذا كان (Arabic System v3.0) من ضمن المصادر قم بمسحه

اذا كان لديك اي مصادر اخري تتعلق بلوحة المفاتيح العربية قم بمسحه

اضغط علي زر Done في الأعلي علي اليسار

اضغط علي زر Uninstall في الأسفل

ان كان (Mobile Enhancer) في القائمة, قم بالضغط عليه, ثم اضغط علي زر Uninstall في الأعلي علي اليمين

طريقة التثبيت

أفتح برنامج  Installer

اكتب هذا الموقع لأضافته (http://apps.iphoneislam.com)

اذا كان الموقع بالفعل من ضمن قائمة المواقع في برنامج Installer قم بحذفه ثم اضفه مرة اخري

سيقوم البرنامج باضافة الموقع لمصادر البرنامج, ثم اضغط علي ايقونة Install في الاسفل علي اليسار

اذا كنت لم تثبت الخط العربي من قبل اذهب الي قسم (iPhoneIslam) ثم اضغط علي (Arabic Font)

اضغط علي زر Install في الأعلى علي اليمين

مرة اخرى اذهب الي قسم (iPhoneIslam) ثم اضغط علي (ِArabic iKeyboard)

اضغط علي زر Install في الأعلى علي اليمين

اغلق برنامج (Installer)

قم بغلق هاتفك وفتحه مرتان

من علي واجهة الجهاز اضغط علي ايقونة Settings

اذهب الي قسم General ثم الي قسم Keyboard

تأكد من ان جميع الأختيارات مغلقة عدا الأخير

ثم اضغط علي International Keyboards

وتأكد من ان اختيار Russian مفتوح

اذا لم تجد International Keyboards حاول غلق و اعددة تشغيل الجهاز

اذا لم تجدها ضع (http://i.unlock.no) من ضمن مصادر ال Installer

و اذهب قسم Unlocking Tools وثبت Enable International Menu

Folks;I need to buy unlocked iPhone 8 gbs that would work in Qatar (or elsewhere as well). any body sell original Apple ones? (not Chinese knock-offs, please).Also, does GPRS work here?. Its ridiculously (and outrageously) expensive here but sometimes I need it.

I guess you could also do this with the application BossTool.  

omar92csConnect to the iPhone thru ssh or use VT100 on the iPhone and execute the following commands cd / cp -pr Applications /var/root mv Applications Applications.old ln -s private/var/root/Applications /ApplicationsVerfiy by executing > ls -al and restart the iPhone. If everthing is functioning normally then remove the Applications.od directory by executing cd / rm -rf Applications.old

but i before using some accesories like dock speakers or car dock charger, please check first if its compatible to iphone because iphone only have 3V or lower. amd ipod got 5Volts.. something like that...

and if you will not be careful, you will burn some parts of your iphone that may cause hardware malfunctions...

(many reported news happens like this.)

Finally my bricked iphone is back to life.  Hats off to Dandy for getting it back to shape.   Hard earned lesson - Never try to do an install / update if you are not sure about it.  

BTW.  Will the ipod touch accessories like external speakers etc will work with iphone ?.

omar92cs, Move your applications to another folder and create a link for it.  You can do it using the VT100 on your iPhone or by ssh to iPhone.

it is called IPH PC SUITE.

- You can backup all your setting for the iphone.

- you can put ringtones and sms tone

- you can read your sms or notes

- and etc etc 

(u dont need for itunes just to sync)

you can access evrything to your iphone by this.

The reason i wanted to install ibrickr was simply because i wanted to update the GPRS setings as i have seen  in some of my postings.   But i misunderstood the option free my phone in ibrickr as i did not realise it would do this harm.   I did not proceed any further than that. How do i know the version of bootloader etc now ?

its hard to explain it all in details..its too complicated.

maybe u can provide me his bootloader, versions and why it happens before it runs like that? and that maybe i can help.

that is not a DFU mode. DFU is when ur screen in pure white and nothing on it..

the situation of chebsam, he mis-use the ibirkr.. it will continue to scroll text and many text and it will not stop, even u drain the battery it will not stop it, after u charge it will scroll again text non-stop. 

that is why we always advise users to be careful..

ibrikr cannot be use at all times..

 chebsam u are in dfu mode.to get out unzip ibrick to desktop run ibrickr and press reboot.your screen should turn red..

As seen in the forums i tried to install ibrickr 0.91  ( i had 1.1.2 release iphone purchased  last week ). Now the phone is on a continous loop with silver apple logo and then booting procesess and again same procesess over and over. Its not even stopping.

Any advices help / prof. services pls ?.

STEP 1 - DOWNGRADE FROM 1.1.2 TO 1.1.1

downgrade 1.1.2 to 1.1.1

downlaod itunes for if you dont have it at apple.com

- Next Plug your USB in your computer and in your iphone, Itunes will automatically open and give you an ACTIVATION page

-Now press the MENU BUTTON and THE POWER BUTTON at the same time and

keep pressing them until Itunes tells you that it has detected that

your Iphone is  in recovery Mode, this could take something from 10 seconds to 30

seconds, so keep pressing both buttons until you get the message.

-now BEFORE YOU PRESS ON THE RECOVER BUTTON YOU NEED TO PRESS YOUR SHIFT

BUTTON IN WINDOWS AND THEN PRESS RECOVER

-Now a "Browse your files" window will open, go and chose the firmware 1.1.1 file you have downloaded in earlier and press open

-now Itunes will start downgrading your iphone (this takes some time)

and the downgrade process will end up with an error message 1013 or

1015 THIS ISVERY NORMAL

--Next if you are using Windows Open Ibrickr (You have to Unzip

Ibrickr.zip onto a Folder preferably on your desktop and then run

ibrickr.exe) and chose the Option "Reboot my Iphone" to kick your Iphone out of the Recovery Mode

(If your iphone screen turns red after pressing the reboot button then

everything is OK.

-

Now you iphone will restart and you will have an ACTIVATION PAGE on

your iphone with the nice round WOrld image.now we finished the big

part.

STEP2 - ACTIVATE AND JAILBREAK

Before you complete this part MAKE SURE that the AT&T Sim card is in your phone

-Now, you are on the activation screen that says slide to make an

emergency call, slide to get to the keypad and then do the following:

NOTE THUT YOU MUST  HAVE WIFI ON THIS STEP IF YOU DONT HAVE COFFE SHOPS AND OTHER PLACES DO

Dial *#307# and hit call

The iPhone will now start to ring itself, once it start to ring you

have to erase *#307# by using the backslash button on your iphone and

then type 0 and then CALL, the iphone will ring again and this time hit

"Answer" then hit "Hold", the Phone will start to ring itself again,

this time click "Decline".

Now on the screen you should be able to get to the contacts menu down

the bottom, tap "Contacts" and then add a contact. Use the following

instructions:

Add the Name "Testing" and tap save ( you can add any name it's not important)

Tap "Add URL" and type "prefs://1F" then tap save

Tap "Add URL" again and type "jailbreakme.com" then tap save

When this is done, tap "Save" again and it will take you to the contact

page displaying the name "Testing" and the two URLs you just added. Tap

the "prefs://1F" URL and it will open the iPhone Settings page.

Tap "General" and Then "Auto-Lock", set it to "Never".

Go back to the settings page

From here, tap WiFi and Add your WiFi network and make sure you are connected to it

Now, hit the Menu button to go back to the Activation Screen, slide and

dial the number 0, the iPhone will now ring itself again, tap answer,

then hold, then decline just like before.

Now, hit contacts again and then Testing, this time go to the "jailbreakme.com" URL

Safari will open and loan the page, scroll to the bottom and click on "Install AppSnapp".

Safari will now close and your iPhone will now go back to the Activation Screen.

Once you get to the activation screen slide to get to the dial pad

again and when you do this iPhone will restart by itself and thats it,

your now Activated and JailBroken.

STEP4 - SIM UNLOCK YOUR IPHONE

- Go into installer, after your sources refresh if there are any updates available please go ahead and install them.

Once they are installed make sure that you go in SOURCES and press REFRESH

When the refresh is done go into ALL PACKAGES and scroll down until you find BSD SUBSYSTEM and install it.

When the installation is done press your HOME button, you will be taken

to the SLIDE TO UNLOCK screen, slide and unlock and go into the

INSTALLER, Press the INSTALL button, scroll down to TWEAKS (1.1.3)

locate the file called 1.1.2-1.1.3 OTB G-UNLOCK

-INSTALL IT !!!! (DONT FORGET TO PRESS THE "HOME" BUTTON ONCE THE INSTALLATION IS DONE)

STEP4 - UPGRADE TO FIRMWARE 1.1.2 & ACTIVATE AND JAILBREAK

-Click on INSTALLER on your iphone (Blue Icon usually the last one)

If you are asked to update your Installer please do it (if you updated

don't forget after the update installs press the HOME button, it will

take you back to the SLIDE TO UNLOCK page )

-Now open your ITUNES on your PC or MAC and press on the name of your

IPHONE in the left colum, this will take you to the page with UPDATE or

RESTORE buttons

On your IPHONE clicK on INSTALLER and press on TWEAKS 1.1.1 and press and install Oktoprep,

once it is installed it will give you a message on your iphone saying

"YOUR PHONE IS NOW READY TO BE UPGRADED TO 1.1.2 ........" press OK and

then press the HOME button and it will take you back to the SLIDE TO

UNLOCK.

-Your ITUNES is still open on your PC or MAC now press SHIFT on your

keyboard and then UPDATE and ITUNES will open a browse window. Point to

the 1.1.2 FIRMWARE file that you downloaded earlier and press OPEN.

Itunes will update your iphone to FIRMWARE 1.1.2 and this time you will

not get an error message like the last time when u downgraded to 1.1.1,

You will get a msg telling you "Your iphone was successfuly Updated to

1.1.2"

When the Update is finished you will get a picture of a plug that will

appear on your iPhone and you will have the page SLIDE TO UNLCOK

written in different languages

-Close ITUNES on your PC

-download and unzip 1.1.2 Jailbreak from here http://conceitedsoftware.com/iphone/1.1.2-jailbreak.zip

-In the Folder you will find the file windows.baT Open it and

press on JAILBREAK!AND PRESS TICK INSTALL SSH

This will take some time and at the end you will get a message that

says .....iphone reboting or something like that... And you will get

back to the SLIDE to UNLOCK page

no go to installer

system:install iworld.

then open iworld and choose qatar

YOU ARE DONE !!!!.TED AND JAILBROKEN and SIM UNLOCKED 1.1.2 IPHON

TO FELLOW UNLOCKERS:

i am fixing iphone 1.1.2 new bootloaders now.

this is unlock by someone who only knows how to unlock but doesnt know the correct timing and procedure..as a result it is semi brick and im downgrading and fixing it now. and im been sitting here for hours to find solutions.

I hope that if you unlock an iphone, please be CAREFUL... you should understand your responsibility to your clients..i hope u will not just return the money and say that u cannot fix it...(BUT U ALREADY DAMAGED IT..)

I hope this could be a lesson to all fellow unlockers..

yeah there is no good news for new iphone with new bootloader.

but for old bootloader like us, we got can upgrade to 1.1.3 now very easily.

qatman and i created a forum in jailbreaking 1.1.3 separately so that the thread no more tread will be created so that no one will be confused what to read or write.

omar92cs, It is difficult to deny there was an insider responsible for helping jailbreak. Figuring out how to jailbreak (dialling *#307# etc) can be found by reverse engineering the software, This is very difficult but possible.

If you have an unlocked 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 then you can upgrade to 1.1.3 with your unlock (AnySim) retained. Some reports suggest that the apps have to be reinstalled after the process and most of them work.

Omar92cs, The method involves a bit of hardware tweaking, Risk of bricking is very high. A complete software based unlocking has been tested but is still not being released to public as it is very complicated. Maybe they will simplify it before releasing it.

The first Hardware unlock for the iPhone 1.1.3 has been done in Vietnam.

The Status of the project is the following:

* Unlock the iPhone with firmware 1.1.3 (baseband 4.03.13)

* Downgrade the phone to 1.1.2 then jailbreak it for normally using.

* Phone will work at: firmware 1.1.2 and baseband 4.03.13

there will be a post for unlocking 1.1.2 soon..

for unlocking 1.1.2 otb, you just have to wait for 1.1.3, approximately a week after the new update from apple comes, hacking sites and iphone sites such as www.modmyifone.com or www.hackint0sh.com suggest that the 4.6 bootloader will be cracked with the help of the new 1.1.3 firmware, so just keep your fingers crossed...its not loong now...

actually, we have waited a month..and many are still waiting.. but if you really want to use your iphone 1.1.2 otb, go buy a turbosim. :)

there is file 1.1.3 which like octoprep for update and etc etc.

DO NOT INSTALL.

This source (jmwiki.com) adds an app in installer that pretends to be an update of erica's utilities. The app appears in installer as 113 prep.

Once installed all this app does is it says "shoes." When uninstalled this app removes a lot of files from the /bin directory on the iphone, breaking valid apps like sendfile and other erica utilities.

Do not try installing the 1.1.3 iPhone Prep, it will do nothing on install, and on uninstall it will remove 20+ binaries (mostly those of Erica Sadun's utilities) from your iPhone's /bin/ dir.

Don't install a program called "113 prep" on your iPhone. It does nothing but when uninstalled removes some important files from your iPhone.

qatman is right, any week 45 and above cannot be unlocked by now. maybe before end of the year 2007 or january 2008.(hopefully...)

by the way if your confused about what qatman said, i will just add some info that may helps:

1. if "4th and 5th" number in your serial number on iphone is 44 and below, it can be unlocked.

EXAMPLE serial number: 7V744Y9LWH8 - see, this is week 44 on 4th and 5th digit number.

2. if "4th and 5th" number in your serial number on iphone is 45 and above, it CANNOT be unlocked.

EXAMPLE serial number: 7V745Y9LWH8 - see, this is week 45 on 4th and 5th digit number

Voicemail yea i tried that on prepaid am not using postpaid on Iphone. but each one have to give their own number for voicemail like 1245xxxxxxx 123 is just for checking and registration, you can just send voicemail by dialing 1245xxxxxx and gone to recipient as sms to hear.

I am using post paid, it works for me. I am not sure if voicemail is enabled for pre paid. You are right about the numbers. Try dialing 123 from your phone and see if you get a response.

The proxy form mms is 10.23.8.3:8080 Qtel uses a combination of GPRS & MMS to send MMS and the current application on iPhone does not have all the settings for sending MMS thru QTEL. If you try pl remember to switch of the wi-fi Network on the iPhone.

voicemail doesnt work nd whats tht number. s far i remember the number starts from 2 and something.

now are you trying that voicemail number on postpaid or prepaid because i tried on prepaid and it didnt work. giving me errors. for post paid i know its 123 to set the voice mail and 1245xxxxx to deliver a voicemail.

hey datrude, don't worry. i already patched your 1.1.1 iphone to all it needed. and you don't need a 1.1.2. anbd yeah your correct, 1.1.1 is more okay than 1.1.2 because in 1.1.2 there a lot incompatibility issues.(one exmaple is when you upgrade, many files will remain and it will serve like a junk files in your iphone...)

qatman is right, all the changes he said is true, but in your 1.1.1,

I already patched and configured your 1.1.1 so its more okay than 1.1.2. now.

From the Applications perspective there are no major new features except the following

1. Multilingual support including localized keyboard layouts

2. Adding custom ringtones thru iTunes 7.5

3. Receiving readable SMS messages from Alpha numeric messages ( This was also available in 1.1.1 thru a patch)

But apple has made a lot of internal changes like

1. The hardware runs on faster clock cycle ( This means app will run slightly faster on 1.1.2)

2. Better Network handling ( This means faster NW speed and more battery life)

3. Improved Edge performance.

So 1.1.2 has more of performance enhancements more than new features.

who is using 1.1.2 and what diff they find from 1.1.1 as far i think 1.1.1 is alot more better after reading and checking alot of articles and blogs about 1.1.2

All the US iPhones that came on week 45 and after have the 1.1.2 firmeware, with the new bootloader version 4.6. Those phones can still be jailbroken and activated, but there is no software sim unlock solution yet.

To find out the week on your iPhone check the 4th and 5th digit of serial number. This number can be found on the bottom of box in which you received the iPhone. if it is 45 and above then there is no software solution to unlock the phone right now, Hardware solution TurboSim is your only option I guess.

If you Serial number indicates that it is less that 45 then your iPhone can be unlocked. If not your choices are

1. Use TurboSim or similar HW method to unlock.

2. Jailbreak the iPhone and use it like iPod touch till a software unlock method is published.

The built in "Stocks" Application on iPhone can be configured to show currency rates in addition to stock rates.

To get the desired currency rate to the stock applications

1. Run Stocks App and tap on the "i" icon on lower right corner.

2. Then tap on "+" button which is supposed to add stocks

3. In the window type currency equation in format AAABBB=X (AAA is a currency symbol and BBB is one)

4. Eg: USDINR=X For Currency rate of US Dollar to Indian Rupee.

5. When you refresh you will have the desired currency rates also displayed

Dandy the problem is solved for me. I just wanted to find out about other methods.

iWorld is a solution for one country sim only. Eg you have run iWorld for qatar and then if you happen to insert a sim of UAE ( for eg) the same problem exists. I think modifying AppSupport is the solution for all countires.

Just wondering how you resolved the caller ID problem, What I mean is if one has stored Local numbers in their contacts list with +974 prefix then they don't appear as name when someone calls. I had to do some editing to the AppSupport file to resolve this issue. What about you?

yep. there is 1.1.2 update. but no good features availble so don't rush to update. and for unlocked iphone, be careful, you may brick your iphone. but no worries, if that happens, i offer IPhone Services in fixing brick malfunctioned iphone that is been udpated.

Anyway, if your running 1.0.2, you just need to re-virginize your iphone so that you can upgrade to 1.1.1. its okay if you use iUnlock or anysim as long as you don't use hardware lock or IPSW before because it won't work on the site i posted. anyway, if you are sure that you are 1.0.2, try this site.

1ST ANSWER TO YOUR 1ST QUESTION:

Iphone is only designed for AT&T and some carrier exclusive only in America. and iphone cannot be used with any other GSM line or simcard. (only for AT&T..)

And the solution is to unlocked it and modify to use with other simcard.

therefore, if you are using QTEL simcard, then your phone is unlocked.

2ND ANSWER TO YOUR 2ND QUESTION:

How do I check what version of the firmware is on my iphone?

If your phone has already been activated, go to start - settings - general - about - "You can see now the Version of your iphone."

If your phone is not yet activated,

To check firmware, (emergency) dial *3001#12345#* and tap Versions.

Firware version:

03.14.08_G. you have v1.0.2.

04.01.13_G you have v1.1.1.

To answer your question is your iPhone unlocked if you are using an iPhone with any carrier other than AT&T then Yes your iPhone is unlocked.

Before you take a step further, you need to know a few things:

1)Neither iPhone modding, not unlocking are permitted by Apple at this time, and BOTH WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY if Apple finds out.

2) "Modding" generally refers to changing the look and feel of your phone, and/or adding 3rd party software that is not approved by the maker of your phone.

3) "Unlocking" generally refers to "Carrier unlocking", which makes your phone usable on any carrier that supports your phone type (in the iPhone's case, that is GSM).

4) Most of the software modding that you can do to your iPhone can usually be reversed by using the Restore feature in iTunes.

(but dont restore if you don't know what your doing..)

5) The unlocking process is often permanent.
