I was taught at school that even to scratch my school desk was stealing, let alone the graffiti and vandalism that goes on these days!
I don't think children think that way nowadays and it continues into their adulthood.
When I was about 20 I was working for a man who went CRAZY at me one lunchtime because I made a cup of coffee using the coffee and milk he left out for us to have at coffee break time. He read the riot act at me, informing me in no uncertain words, that it was HIS coffee and milk and I had no business to use it for my lunchtime drink.
