One more suggestion... Our building formed a "tenants association" and met with the owners/landlords involved. If you all hang on to your units and refuse to leave you'll have much more power than if you all deal with it alone.
Legally they can't evict you for that reason. The issue is between the owner and the manager don't allow them to put you, the tenant, in the middle of it.
Oh, and you might want to change the locks just in case... :)
