Try to go down to Khor al-Uddeid (the Inland Sea) - it's still breathtakingly beautiful (albeit a little dirty in places) and a welcome change after all these years of living in a European capital.

Have a great time when you're there, but bear in mind that the place has changed a bit, and not just in a positive way - more people than before which of course means more traffic, noise and criminality. Gone are the days when you could leave things hanging around, and watch out for your cell-phone!!!
