About

Having been sought after for its prime geographical position and thus occupied by the Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs, Knights of the Order of St John and the British, the tiny Mediterranean Island of Malta is a hotpot of cultural influences and at crossroads for several others also.

This small island state has developed its tourism and financial industries to become a focal point for many as well as a gateway for European facilities for others. After gaining its independence, republic and complete freedom from foreign Rule in the second half of the 20th century, Malta has also become a full member state to the EU in 2004 adopting also the Euro as its currency.
