
Qatar reaffirms support to Asian countries

Qatar’s generosity and emphasis on solidarity in times of crisis and need are well known to the world.
The country has not only stressed international cooperation to overcome challenges at several important forums, but also lead by example by extending a helping hand to several nations in need.
As part of its response to COVID-19, Qatar has offered $88 million to over 80 countries worldwide, His Excellency the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi highlighted at a virtual meeting recently.
The meeting convened the foreign ministers of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) member states.
Speaking at the meeting, HE the Minister underlined Qatar’s participation in several of CICA’s activities.
He drew attention to the 5th Summit in Dushanbe which saw the attendance of to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
This speaks volumes about Qatar’s eagerness to continue to strengthen cooperation with Asian countries in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.

HE Al Muraikhi noted that the world is seeing rapid changes that require enhanced cooperation at bilateral and multilateral levels.
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought forth an extraordinary challenge and threat to humanity that calls for unification of efforts, he emphasized.
Qatar is also working with the United Nations Development Program, in the innovation lab that comprises more than 47 countries, to devise solutions to address the impact of the pandemic, HE the Minister mentioned.
He further said that Qatar will keep supporting international institutions to advance health, prosperity and stability.
Qatar believes in dialogue as a basic method for resolving disputes between countries and encourages dialogue between religions, civilizations, and cultures through regional and international conferences, HE the Minister added.
He also said that Asian countries have many available fields and commonalities to make the most of the capabilities available to them.
