Qatar ranked among highest in ICT capacity

Qatar is ranked 23rd in the Networked Readiness Index (NRI), the highest in the Arab world, according to the World Economic Forum’s latest Global Information Technology Report (GITR).

The report, sponsored by Cisco, measures the capacity of 148 economies to leverage ICT for growth and a country’s economic and social transformation.

In the past year, Qatar has continued to improve and upgrade its ICT infrastructure (where it ranks 31st) and uptake (18th).

Qatar is also among the top 10 countries in the world in terms of Internet users (ninth) and households having access to a computer (eighth) and Internet connection (10th), which has become almost universal and has helped achieve very high social impacts (eighth).

Bahrain (29th) and Jordan (44th) also gained recognition for their efforts in this respect.
