Qatar Airways to help India tackle the second COVID-19 surge

Qatar Airways (QA) will be shipping medical aid and equipment free of charge from global suppliers with aim of improving the current situation in India.
According to a Twitter post by Qatar News Agency yesterday, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani had directed to send urgent medical aid to India as the country battles a catastrophic COVID-19 wave.
QA will be transporting 300 tones of aid from across its global network to Doha, which will then be flown directly to the most affected parts of India in a three-flight cargo.
The initiative falls within international efforts to tackle the second COVID-19 surge in the country.

According to H E Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, “The State of Qatar has a long and special relationship with India, and we have watched with great sorrow as COVID-19 has once again caused a significant challenge to the country.
“As one of the world air cargo leaders, with an extensive international network, we stand ready to provide humanitarian support by transporting these much-needed supplies, and help the country fight back against this appalling virus. Qatar Airways Cargo has already transported well over 20 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine for UNICEF as part of the five-year MoU to support UNICEF’s Humanitarian Airfreight Initiative.”
Some of the items that will be shipped include PPE equipment, oxygen canisters, and other essential medical items.
In addition to the existing cargo orders, the shipment will contain donations by individuals and campiness around the world.
QA had provided similar aid flights to China, shipping supplies to Beijing, Guangzhou, and Shanghai in February 2020, marking it as a leader in the fight against COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.

Great ....... As Always ...... !!!
Qatar and Qatar Airways has always been at the forefront whenever or whenever a human crisis of such magnitude has arisen at any place in the world.
While delivering the much needed vaccines, efforts must be made to deliver thousands of tons of firewood needed to cremate the dead Hindu bodies that are piling up by the hour. India could look towards its neighbors Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Bhutan etc. for help in this regard. And then it has the Andaman islands which is its own territory.
