Medical services at private health facilities to stop from April 2: Cabinet

As Qatar deals with the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, the country is seeing the re-introduction of several restrictions to contain the virus.
Last week, the Cabinet announced a series of limitations, mainly capacity deductions, across different domains of public services.
Today, at its regular meeting, the Cabinet decided to stop medical services at private health facilities, except for emergency cases.

In its last week’s meeting, the Cabinet had reduced the capacity of private health facilities to 70 percent.
However, now, only emergency cases will be attended to at the facilities.
This decision will go into effect from Friday, April 2, 2021.
The Cabinet decision also allows these facilities to provide some of their medical services through modern means of communication.
His Excellency Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani chaired the Cabinet session via video conferencing.
The Cabinet listened to Her Excellency the Minister of Public Health’s overview on the latest developments pertaining to COVID-19 in Qatar and measures being taken to limit its spread.
The Cabinet affirmed the continuation of precautionary measures that have been taken in order to combat the epidemic.
