How are you celebrating Qatar’s National Sports Day today?
Another edition of the National Sports Day is underway in Qatar. The unique event, which was launched a few years ago, makes Qatar one of the few countries in the world to have a specialized day for sports.
A large number of fitness and sports events has been planned across Qatar, reported Qatar Tribune.
Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) will organize a demonstration of ‘Kendo,’ which is one of Japan’s oldest martial arts forms. Visitors have an opportunity to try out this unique sport.
AZF is also hosting a session of ‘Nordic Walking,’ which involves walking by using specially-designed poles.
Besides these, there will also be a 3km fun run, which will take participants across the whole complex. A special fun zone for children will also be open.
Qatar Foundation is hoping to encourage visitors of all ages to lead a healthy lifestyle by organising several activities inside Education City. Some of the activities include pony rides by Al Shaqab, special ladies fitness programmes as well as fun-filled children activities at Oxygen Park.
NSD activities at QF will kick off at 9 am with a walkathon that will pass through Oxygen Park. A 40km cycling event will also be held.
Katara Cultural Village will organise an astounding number of activities — 80 — for visitors of all ages. It will include water sports, beach and court games.
There will be a jogging competition for senior citizens, fitness examinations for general public as well as allocation of designated areas for women to exercise.
Several ministries, private and public companies as well as sports clubs and teams have come forward to help make National Sport Day a roaring success.
