Employees will have the right to switch jobs without getting a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employers if the company fails to pay their monthly salary within seven days of the due date, an official from the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA) said.

Qatar Tribune quoted the official as saying that a decision to this effect has already been taken at the ministerial level and will be implemented soon.

“The government wants all companies operating in the country to pay monthly salaries to their employees on time or in certain cases within seven days from the due date. If they fail to do so, employees of such companies will have the right to change jobs even if they haven’t completed the contract period,” the official said.

Despite implementation of the Wage Protection System (WPS) almost a year ago, some companies are yet to adopt it.

“The government is taking action to identify companies that are yet to implement WPS. Such companies will be blacklisted and lose the support of the government,” the official said.

The official said that a Swiss company hired by the ministry to smoothen the procedure of recruitment of expatriate workers will start functioning soon.

It will start opening its branches in 39 countries which have agreed to send workers to Qatar to complete employment formalities like medical checkup, document and certificate verification, and signing of work contract in the source country itself.

Any company operating in Qatar will have to hire the services of the Swiss firm to complete the employment prerequisites in the source country.

Fees for availing the services of the Swiss company will be paid by the employer and not the employee, the official said, adding that fees for services are yet to be fixed.

for those who has an employer who is not following the law of Qatar - should report them to proper authorities.

as the saying goes:

There are two kinds of people in this world: the ones that su*ck the life out of every day, and the ones that let every day su*ck the life out of them. -- Bill Purdin

Providing this kind of information in your website gives hope for the expatriates who came in Qatar to work that they had the best decision in leaving their family in their native country to provide them a good life.

May Qatar Living raise the voice of the workers to the authorities;

1. Big penalty for companies confiscating the ATM of the employees just to show to the government that they are following the WPS religiously.

2. Save the workers from all employers who do not provide WPS to have personal meeting with the owners or representatives since they have the list of companies not following the WPS.

3. Penalty for companies who are not providing contract to their employees but they were able to provide PATAKA, if they asked to sign contract to their employees, they should give a copy for transparency of both parties.

I will really appreciate this law, as soon as it will be implemented will help lot of employees to get salary timely fashion and beside that no employer will be able to black-male to employees on end of service.

I come to know some employer demand lot of money for NOC.

Excellent. What about if some employers took thousands of riyal against NOC in previous years by black mailing. Then how victims can get justice.

Second, if some employers took sign on final settlements by giving half dues and took sign for complete clearance as threat by employer if not then we will destroy employee.

I am the victim and above is my example and i totally destroyed.
