Beware Qatar, scooter boards can be fatal

Hover boards and scooter boards have been the talk since last year. Most children, teenagers and the youth have been pretty obsessed over these gadgets and many a times we have witnessed parents spending thousands of riyals over these toys.

However, as time went on, malls and play areas in Qatar began to ban these gadgets. While more on this could be read in our news post titled, “Malls in Qatar ban motorized space boards” , the reason for the ban can be clearly justified with the tragic incident that took place in Dubai recently.

A Filipino scooter board rider has died after being thrown from his device headfirst into a lamppost, in what police have said is the first recorded death involving the vehicles in Dubai.

It was reported that the rider had been playing on his scooter board in a park called the “Mushrif Park” when he lost his balance and fell.

It was told that the victim knocked his head and died instantly.

Colonel Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of the Traffic Department at Dubai Police said that that there has been a series of recent accidents. He said two involved users flying off their boards after the power cut out.

The officer explained, “The first one knocked his face on the ground and suffered serious injuries. The second broke his arm when the battery turned off all of a sudden. We recorded those incidents as traffic accidents.”

Scooter boards are fatal and risky. It’s high time that we all realize the danger behind them and follow the ban in the country. [msn.com]

It's the usual failure of the industry AND the government. When they made cars, they made roads. When they made airplanes, they made airports. So, when they make scooters, they should make scooter ranges. Just as they made shooting ranges when they made guns. The alternative is WAR.

I'm glad they're banned in malls. They're a menace.

Beware! Cars can be fatal and risky. It’s high time that we all realize the danger behind them and follow the ban in the country. Which ban?
