Should children witness childbirth?
Due to a power outage, only one paramedic responded to the call.
The house was very dark so the paramedic asked Kathleen, a 3-yr old girl to hold a torch high over her mummy so he could see while he helped deliver the baby.
Very diligently, Kathleen did as she was asked.
Heidi pushed and pushed and after a little while, Connor was born..
The paramedic lifted him by his little feet and spanked him on his bottom.
Connor began to cry.
The paramedic then thanked Kathleen for her help and asked the wide-eyed 3-yr old what she thought about what she had just witnessed.
Kathleen quickly responded, "He shouldn't have crawled in there in the first place... smack him again!"
Ay'up everyone, I am no expert on child birth, however I have faced a lot of deliveries from strapping West Indians and Aussies. Nor am I a Gynaecologist as much as I would like to be - One thing always put me off though, making love to my dear wife Faith would feel like taking my work home with me.
Anyway, back to the point - Is there not a child witness at every birth?
Happy Procreating everyone!!!

mo lang!
Hurrah with your comment, 'men should not be in either'.
Men ARE not welcome at that critical time. Men sod off, it is us and the baby and our very personal bits here.
Men, in my view are a bloody hindrance; not a help.
My thoughts are my own, but I doubt my Mum would agree with some of them.
"Connor likes to play hide and seek, kathleen. Lol!!"
smack him!!! :)

really innocent gesture (Not a real case).
I thought Qlers knew that is a part of fiction from a book, shared for our comments.
kids do have curious and creative minds...
seriously, kids are not supposed to experience that situation. Others may see the scenario in a simple way but some kids might be traumatized to that.
Who put the baby in such a place?
DoraTheExplorer, no kid should see delivery. They'll be traumatized, specially if mommy is a dramatic soprano..:))
Ofcourse the husband must stay glued to get all the slaps, punches and foul language..:) who else?!
Salam
lol so innocent child...
but you're all right..she's really cute w/ her answer/gestures. i want to hug her :)
No it is not acceptable at all! Children should not have to witness such a distressing situation.....oh I hear the earth mothers bleeting....how can one describe the pain the mother is in and its a messy business.....children shouldn't see it!! I'm also part of the school that thinks that men shouldn't be in the delivery room either!
cute child.
My thoughts are my own, but I doubt my Mum would agree with some of them.
Sweet answer..
I think its ok for that age but not beyond..

in some case like my nephew witnessed this 'event' while holding the flashlight, he was 5 years old then. Well-no big deal for the family, that's what we call 'an emergency situation'.

hehehehe sweet answer ..
but i think 3 years is too young to witness anything similar to the scene of a delivery. maybe if the kid is a bit older where you actually can talk about what is going to happen, then it might sink in.
but again, maybe i'm wrong.
lol smack him again
Its okay for a three yr old... his mind is not corrupted with anything else..
but its just a joke...
Huh!! A 3 year old is allowed to witness eh.. great. Donno what all impacts it wil give that tiny nd tender heart.
