Mukesh Ambani in his 27 storeyed home

Mukesh Ambani in his 27 storeyed home...... Mukeshbhai gets up from his bed room on 15th floor, takes a swim in the swimming pool on 17th floor, has breakfast on the 19th floor, dresses up for office on 14th floor, collects his files and office bag from his personal office on 21st floor, wishes bye to Nitaben on 16th floor, says ‘see you’to his children on 13th floor, and goes down on 3rd floor to self drive his 2.5 crore Mercedes to office, but then, he finds out that he has forgotten the car keys upstairs.

But on which floor?
15th, 17th, 19th, 14th, 21st, 16th or 13th ?
He phones all his servants, cooks, maids, secretaries, pool attendants, gym trainers, lift attendantsetc. on all the floors. There is a hectic search and lot of running around on all the floors, but the key is not traceable .
Fed up, after half an hourof frantic search, Mukeshbhai leaves in a huff in a chauffeur driven Ikon car.
At 3.30 P.M. late in the afternoon it is discovered that 4 days back , a temporary replacement maid had washed Mukeshbhai's pant and hung it to dry on a string in the balcony of 16th floor, with car keys in the pant pocket. The key had blown away somewhere in the high winds at 16th floor level and was never found.
This was detected because of Nitaben's habit of checking clothes given for ironing personally.
Meanwhile, after 3 days of the incident, Nitaben with all irritation writ large on her face, complained to Mukeshbhai asking him where he was roaming till 3 A.M. last night …
Mukesh replied that he was at home all night.
"Then why did the helicopter land in the terrace at 3 A.M?
I was so much worried…I could not sleep whole night," quizzed Nitaben.
"Oh That helicopter….That helicopter came from Germany , sent by Mercedes people to deliver the duplicate car key".......mumbled Mukesh.
Moral of the story : Stay in 1 BHK / 2 BHK flat only. The Least-Problem Home.

painther,

Did I call him that?!

Ooops I must have been thinking loudly ;)

I said:

"...cant he give it (even much more) to charity?!

No 27 storey house should be built for any one family until all inhabitants of this world have a home.

How is that for the gentleman to think better?

So all he has to do (to satisfy me) is to provide a home to all those who don’t have one (ok, I will be kind to him and will only demand homes for the homeless in Mumbai) and then he still has loads of extra money, he may built his 27 storey home... and i will let him get away with his mega carbon footprint.

Wouldn’t he be more respected?

Nic,

You say ‘you are not picking on the guy per se’ but you did (you wrote “How much does this “idiot” pay his servants and employees? )”, there’s wasn’t a need to term him idiot unless you know him well.

Stereotype (by liberal left)??

Ok let me tell you, while he’s a normal person (means no saint like all of us), he has, other than creating wealth, also created-

- Many (really many) new school colleges which government could not have done in general (http://www.ril.com/html/aboutus/social_resp_comm_dev.html)

- supporting many villages/regions in Gujarat through many NGOs,

- Hugely supporting/investing in Sports (football) , which government fail to do in years……..and list is really long.

- created “opportunities” which now constitutes 4% of India’s GDP, yes Reliance creates 4% of India’s GDP (and this huge business empire wasn’t inherited, he created it).

Imagine the jobs created by them, during his “innovative” and traditional business ventures across the globe !!.

Now, if someone says he’s doing wrong, catch them but just in a single word terming them ‘idiot’….not appreciable!!!

On, how much does this “idiot” pay his servants and employees? ), as noted, they are the best pay masters , also NOTE payments are linked to individuals’ capability/job profile etc, and nowhere in world, no sane person is paying or will pay beyond a reasonable limit.

DO you think he should distribute his billions to his servants/ clerks/managers???? They do get what they are working for.

And to link poverty of a country to one successful person is sheer insane. Instead, people should strive to become/ produce many such success stories, many mukesh ambanis.

His 27 story house is nothing when compared with what he’s created for the nation (yes, ultimately it all helps the nations’ infrastructure) , just go and see his Jamnagar refinery (one of the biggest in world & is one of such establishments) which changed the fortune of that region in Gujarat.

Whyteknight,

He does not distribute his money well enough; otherwise he wouldn’t need to lavishly spend it in such a monster project. He has so much money that he doesn’t know what to do with it, cant he give it (even much more) to charity?! No, that too dumb for the regular greedy human being.

I am not picking on the guy per se, only on his lavish show off obscene habits ;)

Unfortunately he is not the only one in this world!

Reliance is one of the best paymasters in the country, I know about 20 of my classmates currently employed there and some others may have joined without my knowledge. He does pay quite well..

Actually that was one of the criticisms of his father Dhirubhai that he poached employees from his competitors by giving them double the salary of whatever they were making. The competitors cried cheating and what not.

Nic

jackmohan2007,

Wow, I am impressed for him to have so many slaves, ooops sorry, servants!

How much he pays them?!

Wouldn’t it be better if he educated those people (as he can sure afford it) to equip them to succeed in life instead of ensuring them a servant's role...

Oh well, never mind, I guess this is ok for some of you, not for me!

Arien... who is behind the 35,000 Km road expansion in India?

The politicians must have got a lot of "encouragement" from the Tatas... else their Nano would never take off...

Without the business people to push the lazy politician ... they would never think of anything themselves nor would they be interested to do any good...

By Nic• 6 Feb 2011 12:33
Nic

Painther,

You underestimate me ;)

Liberal-left is a component that all big achievers should take into account when distributing their wealth.

There is no honor in making money and keeping it all for oneself.

The true honor is to make money and to generate wealth to others.

How much does this idiot pay his servants and employees? With all the surplus of wealth he could surely pay them a few more rupees and sponsor them to start their own businesses or education... no, that's for weak, the heroes in his mind are those who have 27 floor homes!

If all were well off, it wouldn’t be a so great sin but it’s not the case, is it?

Even if all were well-off, does he not think about his carbon footprint? Imagine if every inhabitant on earth will built a 27 storey home? How would the pollution level of the planet would be/

So to end this ridiculous debate, almost as ridiculous as the guy him self and his mega home and all others of his kind, not only they are selfish but they also aggravate more than others the world's environment!

Conscience is what is perhaps missing in most of the people that are blinded by wealth.

At least the Facebook guy lives in a modest home (for the time being)!

By anonymous• 6 Feb 2011 12:28
anonymous

Nic... 10,000 and 2,000 were just examples... I think 10,000 must be Mukesh's personal attending staff... kadama, servants... driver (In only one building he has 600 attendents. Add up all from his real estate and offices spread all over in India...) which by what you said that Mexican would never employ.... at least in such numbers.

I have no idea how many they employ...

If the Mexican is not spending doesnt mean he is distributing it... it could also me he is holding on to it in banks or other investment assets.

Two points to clarify:

How it helps evolution process: when Mukesh makes a 27 storey building, I and many similar human beings, would “strive” to makes bigger and better than that….this will result into me doing more hard/smart work and that’s bottom-line of human growth story to go for bigger, better…….

They are extra ordinary: yes they are, because (a) they are not ordinary, no ordinary person has a billion, (b) they do have extra ordinary skills, even if they inherited billions, to sustain it. And, if they really have no skills, they lose it very shortly, and then they are neither billionaire nor extra ordinary (history is full of such losers who lost empires due to having “only ordinary skills”).

Corollary to this: give me a billion and my skills will be tested, if I can develop skills I can sustain it (actually make more billions) and if I can’t, I’m just an ordinary person.

PS : many right thinking people cherish on other’s success including opulence :)

By Nic• 6 Feb 2011 11:08
Nic

Painther,

It was just my personal view...

Let all billionaires take advantage of their privileged position to exercise their power to their advantage to make even more money (with the hard work of others) and to keep the big bulk to them and to their families.

Man, the fact that one makes huge amounts of money only means that he didn’t distribute enough of it, to those who helped him make that money.

Again it’s just a personal view!

Isn't it my right to spend my hard earned (legal) money in legal way including making a HUGE house for me.....???

are we turning to communism again????

Nic, it's incorrect to say that so many billionaires come from extreme poor countries? majority of them come from developed countries and rest from developing countries (ref :forbes list of billinaires)

These (billinaires) are extra ordinary people with extra ordinary mind & skills, and IMHO, they have all right to spend the hard earned money in any legal way.......

now some people say these extra ordinary people should restrict themselves to level of ordinary people.......

This will reverse the evolution process of humankind.....

Nic

tinkerbell10,

By Nic• 6 Feb 2011 09:43
Nic

Polkadots,

Since when a party is a public display of lavish wealth?!

A party is actually a way of sharing with others.

Lavish display of wealth is what you own and show it off to the public.

I am not talking about none of us who live from our monthly salaries, no matter how high they are. I am talking about the huge fortunes that are kept within a family!

I am not here to establish standards, but it is obvious that a 27 floor home is an insult to the poverty of the world and mainly to his own neighbors.

I invite you to reflect on why so many billionaires come from extreme poor countries? Is there any relation with the fact that poor people can be exploited easier and in greater quantities with smaller rewards?

I don’t know... but it would be worth it to find out the correlation!

Just a personal view...

Whyteknight

I don't think we should make any exceptions as those are often who display the worse behavior and as Stealth pointed out, is wealth obtained with 100% honesty?

All wealth is obtained with the hard work of many, even when it’s led by one brain!

The other day I saw an interview with the richest guy in the world, from Mexico. He still lives in his first house (quite normal dimensions).

Any public display of lavish wealth should be considered a shameful act until poverty is eradicated. That includes all Hollywood and Bollywood actors, corrupted Politian’s, rulers of the oil and gas states (it’s not their oil, it’s the planet’s), heirs of fortunes, bill gates and mark zuckerberg and others alike.

Its ok, to aim for a certain level of comfort, but after a certain point it becomes an insult to the misery of this world.
