Can any body solve this?
Three friends went to a hotel. The bill was QR 75/-
Each one contributed QR.25/-.
The waiter took the bill to the cashier.
The cashier was happy & decided to give them a discount of QR.5/- & asked the waiter to return them QR.5/-.
Now the waiter was confused. How to distribute QR 5 among 3 persons?
He kept QR 2 in his pocket & gave one Riyal to each one of the 3 persons.
So initially each one had contributed QR.25. Now as they are given 1 Riyal back, their contribution reduces to QR 24.
They all contributed QR 24 -- that is 24x3=72 & 2 Riyals are in the waiters pocket.
The total becomes 74. But they had paid QR 75.
Where is the remaining 1 Riyal?.

This is quite an old one, but never seem to stop people from wondering.
Simply, the 24 everyone paid "INCLUDE" the 2 they gave as a tip to the waiter. So, you cannot add it twice.
Actually, they paid only 70 riyals. So divide it by 3 : 70/3 = 23.3333. Then 23.333 + 1 riyal each = 24.333. Multiply 24.333 x 3 = 72.999 approx. 73 riyals. Then add the 2 riyals in the waiters pocket, therefore it is 75 riyals.
that 1 riyal is with me now... lol
