When you see that your tyres are wearing out you should change your tyres. I always go for Michelin tyres as they do not wear out easily and are quite long lasting. Completely impressed by their performance.

I this Climate I change Tires every year, it might be overkill but I am on the safe side. A couple of my cars run around 30K per year, but my SL runs only 10K but the tires are still changed out.
depends upon the brand of the tyres plus the usage of them. Generally you can use good branded tyres for 3 years & others for 1 year.
When they are bald! There are tread wear indicators on all tires. when you reach them it's time to change. if you see wire poking through the rubber it's already too late!!
Also tyres over 3 years old tend to 'go off'. The rubber loses its grip you should also replace then. there's a year stamp on all tyres too!!
