There really is no way to objectively pick one of these two legendary cars. Each will outlast any other SUV. All you need to do is close your eyes and think and then listen to what your heart says...because really, there is no way you could go wrong with either of those two cars...there will always be many SUVs, but none will ever come close to the brilliance of these two cars...best of luck and enjoy your new car, whichever it is...and show us pics :-)
Why Patrol: 1)Nissan's have better air cons in general than Toyota 2) The interiors are better furnished on base model than Toyota 3) Subject to usage , Nissan's suspension and Gearbox last longer than Toyota under abuse.
Why LCruiser: 1) Cheaper out-of-pocket (non-warranty) service and part charges 2) Better resale value beyond the 5 year mark. Better depreciation than Toyota from day one. 3) Both engine and cosmetic parts (lights, grill, fender, windows and other exterior parts) are cheaper to replace in case of accidents. Remember, 3rd party insurance covers half of genuine part price or full price of salvaged/non-genuine parts. Its easier to get Toyota salvaged parts for repairers.
Both these cars have got a pedigree. They both are excellent cars to drive. Prado's and land cruisers are favored over safari in Australia/Newzealand.
