Motorists irritated by signal that never turns green
Several motorists passing by Al Asiri Interchange have complained about the snarling traffic flow and about the fact that it never turns green.
Gulf Times reported on Sunday that the signal at the often busy interchange, commonly known as Midmac roundabout, never turns green. It is either red or stays on standby blinking yellow.
However, the issue is only on one side of the interchange. Only motorists coming from the Ramada signal toward the interchange will experience this issue as of now.
This glitch in the traffic light system is definitely a strange situation and even more concerning for the motorists taking this route to access schools in the area.

Some of the motorists have also started choosing alternative route even though they are longer.
An Asian expatriate described his experience travelling on this route as a "traffic nightmare." From the Qatar Medical Clinic, which is hardly 400m from the roundabout, it took him an hour and 35 minutes before reaching the roundabout.
"It was really horrible and I was in a hurry that time because I needed to attend a meeting, but what can I do?" he said. "The problem is that the signal doesn't turn green, I don't know why."
Have you been stuck at this interchange? Which alternate route do you take?
2 months ago i went to midmac roundabt while coming from ramada my car was 3 car before the signal but i counted 3 continues time it turned yellow while all orher sides were green for 3 turns even if its yellow u cannot pass because its too much traffic no one will give u way and that time was morning time after that day is never even went there and now i wonder if its still the same
The MidMac signal has had a problem. I travel by Karwa bus on that route some times and have noticed the bus driver's frustration with the signal lights at this R/A. However, I believe the authorities will soon rectify the problem.
100% Syed is right, can QATAR traffic department adopt his suggestion ?
keeping an yellow blink signal will not make any difference with an ordinary roundabout. Only high power, initial pull vehicle can enter inside the circle quickly. Even lady drivers are bit more conscious about safety and accelerates bit slower than that of men. So if there is a lady driver at first, she will always look for a long gap to cruise...
Agreed with Syed
Dear Traffic team,
In signal controlled round about, please remove BLINKING AMBER ...please
it is causing lots of accidents...during peak hours....in sports r/a, mid mac r/a, decortaion r/a....
use only - RED & GREEN..please....
It is quite possible that an electronic fault exists on the system and will probably be repaired as soon as the traffic department is notified of the problem.....
but there is also the possibility that the loop detector is not getting triggered because the vehicle in the front of the line is not positioned over the loop. Many drivers are careful not to trigger the red light fine camera and stop too far away from the front and in the process also miss the first loop that tells the system that there is somebody waiting on that side of the signal.
