High Beaming

Im sure this question must have come up earlier on QL, but i want to know is; If the car behind you is high beaming you and you choose not to move out of the way and get into into a verbal arugment w/ a lil cussing involved, who will be at fault if the police does arrive?

I would say move out of the way. And don't stop if they try to force you (or stop, and drive away when they get out of their car).

Some of us are stupid, and don't care about anything, they wouldn't mind beating you up, and some have sticks or even illegal guns in their cars - I've had bad encounter with these people.

I drive a white landcruiser, and regularly flash people who are driving slower than me on the FAST LANE.

If you don't give way, I wouldn't stop you or hurt you. I'd simply go either from the right, or from the unpaved road on your left - I don't care about the fine if they catch me.

Don't use any hand signals it can get you put in jail and if I move when they are flashing, I flash my high beams quickly and they think they have been hit by radar its funny. I do it to speeders as well trying to get them to slow down. Many times if you don't move and I drive a LC they get in front of you and brake hard trying to get you to hit them so it can be really dangerous.

thats the usual thing they do--flash their lights and speed up! i dont understand why most of them are so arrogant and impatient when to think they impose speed limits...whats it for? just numbers? if we ignore them--they'll overtake and make a sudden brake...and then for sure when accidents happen -- its us whose at fault. well--this isnt our territory and what else can we do but give way??? thats the best thing to do...cheers!

The Best soulution here would be (Just give way) and forget who was behind you. I drive a Landcrusier myself and trust me i have been flashed lights even honked at times when i am on the left lane keeping my self on the required speed. Trust me on this not all driver who flash lights are Qatari's (90% yes & 10% are others) i have even had a Karwa driver giving me flash flash on the road. In such a case, if the Driver happens to be a Qatari just give way and forget it about it, coz not all driver you see are Qatari's with LandCrusier, I know of a situation where my friend got in verbal bashing on the road since he was not giving way, police was called and the guy dressed turned out to be a Yemeni !!! haha then the cops made each other apologise and end of story.

Most cases i chose when to give way and when not give way, most of the time i just ignore even if he tried to shoot me with his eye balls i refuse to look and refuse any sign language.. its the best.. who has the time for nonsense on the road these days !! Safe Driving !!

giving a way for those pple wants to go first you can avoid argument to this arrogant road user, that sometimes they make high beaming their head light informing you must go side to his way.....I'm considering those pple have reasons that maybe........they will go for prayer, maybe for toilet to make pee or something else?....or they just acting bullying in the road........giving a way is the best way to avoid an arguments.

avoid such confrontations, did u not see how someone was shot at, crashed, and lost his life in such a situation. I know it rankles with some nationalities who have little decision making capability in their lives and feel that asserting their rights in a car is great.

Like everyone else who ever sat in a car I felt the intoxication of speed when I first got a car, however I was in my late twenties married with children by then and had some judgement based on experience. Remember the person behinfd you may be a person of 14 years old driving a 2 ton machine with very little experience of anything. I regularly travelled a 500 Km distance twice weekly and found that the total saving in time over that distance by driving as fast as possible was 10 to 15 minutes compared with respecting the speed limits. A very little gain over a 3 hour drive to risk losing ur life for. The answer is to move aside, let him go ahead and have the quiet satisfaction of seeing him run into the back of someone else as I did on Salwa Rd some years ago

We all know the situation - The driver behind you was most likely dressed up like a chess-piece, driving a Land Cruiser with a big antenna and sand tires on. Most likely he was so close to you that all you saw was the whole level of light in you rear window go up, as he was too close to you, for you to actually to see he's headlights...

One thing to do: show him the great communicator!

Most likely he has been sitting at "work" all day blowing up balloons, drinking the and talking on mobile, hurring off to a mall to continue to blowing up balloons, drinking the and talking on phone - that with the whole headset wrikled around hes head! (what is all that about anyway!).

Showing him the before mentioned body part will hopefully make him think for a change, and hopefully make him concider tailgaining before he's got the land cruiser full of small chess pieces bouncing around in the car with no seat belts on... Maybe your action which might seem like an offence at present time, will acually save a life or two...

If you see someone coming from far behind signaling once to the left with he's indicator, i might very well be me, than please make space if possible, and i'll salute you.

Have a nice day!

Dude,

First of all if u r in the average speed limit (permitted one) then u don't need to bother for anyone, if he / she keep on flashing u better avoid racing and give the way, why u keep urself in such a bad situation and spoil ur mood, some people really don't know how to drive and wanna show of that they have Idiotic Landcruiser or any 4X4, they never think others also must drive and respect, my advice avoid such stupids and stay out of them.

Cheers....all d best

excerpts from Karwa Driving School:

on a 2 or 3 lane road, always use the right most lane (they call it slow lane), use only the left lane for overtaking or if you're turning left/u-turn. Overtaking on the right is illegal and dangerous. So basically, if you're on the left most lane, you have to give way to other vehicle in order to overtake (unless you're approaching the round-about/signal, ignore the idiots in this case)

Regarding who's right or wrong, it's in police discretion...

How do you get into a verbal argument with someone when you are both driving in separate vehicles?

Please clarify ... refuse to move, or unable to move.
