Even though I prefer the looks of the Mazda, I'd go for the Honda cause it's a newer model. Mazda needs to release it's 2.0 liter engine in the middle east - also there is a perception that the dealer ain't great - which may be the reason why you barely see Mazda's on the road here. A shame.
both cars are iincredibly good at what they were made for..i guess the choice depends on your needs...both are comfortable, reliable and good resale..however, there's a few points that could help you decide:1) if you like driving then the mazda 3 is much more fun and is one of the best handling cars in it's segmnent. the city will have softer steering and softer suspension which is good for comfort but not driving fun2) mazdas are very reliable but a few cars have had issues with the cooling and a/c systems..you also need to carry out all maintenance/repairs with the mazda dealer since the parts and service aren't available outside..the city is a 'fill and go' car with not many known issues..however if you take care of your car, any car will prove to be reliable.3) mazda is possibly safer, more solidly built and has more features depending on trim level. but the city is maybe the more popular choice due to the honda badge and resale.4) finally, let's just say the mazda is like an amazingly beautiful woman who understands you but cannot cook very well..you're with her because of the beauty and the friendship.. it makes up for the occasional issues when the car is so great to drive. The city is an average woman who is good with everything she does but excels at nothing in particular.5) now if you're ready for a wonderful ride with the occassional issue, take the 3..if you are ok with average but very satisfied and don't mind the boring but sober choices in life, then the city is what you need. i personally have driven/rented both cars long term and would have the 3 each time and everytime..sorry for the dramatic answer but i love cars..best of luck and enjoy whatever car you decide to buy..you cannot go wrong with either car..each is absolutely great:-)
