Buying Second-hand cars are good idea?
By BittySanthosh •
Hi Guys,
Since I have to live in Qatar for atleast 5 years, I would like to buy a car.My monthly income is QR.7000/-only(included all). Here i have 2 options:-neither buy a second-hand car nor buy a new small car(Susuki Alto, KIA or something like that..),but some of my well-wishers saying better to buy a new small car than buying an old one, as they are justfying, if it is a new car, for atleast 5 years I dont want face any kind of reparing problems and more over i can pay monthly instalments very easily without keeping a lumpsum amount in first for buying a second-hand car.
Guys, I look forward for your valuble feedback ASAP.
Good Luck and hope u can get some reasonable for a reasonable price..
I bought a 6 month old Honda Accord, around 8000 kms done at 30% discount on the list price. It has got a 60,000/3 year free service - so all costs are covered. This is not a one of deal.
I had a BMW 320i in Bahrain. Picked it up and sold it for the same price - used it for 2 years though. Barely incurred any maintainance cost but deligently serviced it every 3 months cause i luv my cars
Can go on and on.
Point is - if you know about cars and can pick up a good deal - you'll save a lot buying a 1-2 year old car.I have and will always buy a 1-2 year old car.
Guess ur well-wishers wher after all rite... Cos, yea... by de time u hav 2 leave de country, u cud get sum resale value on the car since its first hand buy. But den again, i still doubt.... with just 7000/- over a month... how exactly hav u plan 2 balance out ur rent, food, social life??? I think u need 2 rethink b4 u do any actions... Cos, i really doubt if ur same well-wishers wud b der 2 giv u a helpin hand later on...
Looking at ur financial position suggest u to buy second car around (10-15k) at cheaper, run for 2-3 years and sale it at scrap value then you could think of a better new car later when u r in a strong financial position.
If you are planning to stay atleast another
3-5 years in Doha better you go for new one
as you say, but the problem these cars dont
have resale value in the market...
Second hand cars you can only for 3-4 year old
subject you have enough money to cover the purchase
of car...
Buying a 2nd-hand car is ok only if you can guarantee that the 1st owner is the type you know who really took good care of the car. But if not, it is not a wise decision, as most friends I know who have bought 2nd-hand cars are now having problems with the repairs and maintenance. Much better buy a brand new car on installment. Ours we took a Honda City last year at only Qar920 a month.
