Regards to the allowances mentioned, suggest that you check if you get them paid even if you dont use them. For instance the schooling allowance may not get paid unless you actually send your child to school in Qatar and have proof of this (in the form of an invoice/receipt from an international school here - the good schools cost more than this I believe) and same may be the case for furniture (paid against a receipt from a furniture shop). If you budget on the basis of receiving this but do not then you may be not as well off as originally anticipated. Also, the furniture allowance is probably depreciated over a given length of time so if you leave earlier than that time you may have to pay back a portion of that cost (or handover the furniture) so worth checking this too.
