Is it a good salary package?
I was offered a Manager position with a Q company with a salary of QAR 40K per Month, which includes Housing, and other benefits. The company also provides seperate furniture allowance (QAR 24K), school education allowances (QAR 30K), Car loan etc.
I'm a British National, Married with one Kid (5Yrs Old). But not planned to bring them over to Qatar.
Please comment if its a good salary to survive in Qatar
Thanks @slipperychimp, that was very insightful.
I am a Brit who is on quite a bit less than 40k - no idea where Lucky gets that 100k figure from.
Anyway, you will be fine on that amount - based on my salary and desired standard of living etc I should think you'll have about 20k left over each month for savings. However, that's if your company actually pays the salary. Ask current employees on the company reliability and how long it will be before your 1st pay cheque, also check on if they'll pay expenses for document legalisation etc.
I came over in Nov last year and received my residents permit in 2 weeks. Same for drivers license etc.
As for housing, I live outside Doha in a 1 bed "granny annex" type villa. It costs me 4500 / month, furnished, bills, maintenance etc all included. I personally wouldn't live inside Doha even if I was working there. It takes me 15 minutes drive down the express way to get in to Doha when needed, although it took me 6 months to find the right place (no one wants to rent to single young men).
Good luck mate
It took them one year to process mine. My colleague had to wait 16 months. I really doubt if they would do yours for the first time in 1.5 to 2 months, but things are improving quickly in this country. Just make sure you do not resign until you get the ticket to come to Qatar.
Thanks dilhanj,
Work processing time 1.5 to 2 months seems a long wait, is it very normal?
Is there any way of expediting the process?
I know Brits who work in Qatar and are on less than 40k so this 100k statements are pure nonsense.
Regards to the allowances mentioned, suggest that you check if you get them paid even if you dont use them. For instance the schooling allowance may not get paid unless you actually send your child to school in Qatar and have proof of this (in the form of an invoice/receipt from an international school here - the good schools cost more than this I believe) and same may be the case for furniture (paid against a receipt from a furniture shop). If you budget on the basis of receiving this but do not then you may be not as well off as originally anticipated. Also, the furniture allowance is probably depreciated over a given length of time so if you leave earlier than that time you may have to pay back a portion of that cost (or handover the furniture) so worth checking this too.
Thanks Zackm
Get a serviced apartment, much easier and get yourself settled first and then think about moving to other places. Also rent a car, before thinking to buy once, so that get your barrings around Qatar. Also, don't give out any contact number to strangers... don't know why Kasim kk wants your number for??? Work permit processing takes about 1.5 months to 2 months, so be patient.
Dear Kirumyin, could you please give me ur mobile number?
Do you reckon i can get a good single bedroom apartment fully furnished Less than 7K? Also wondering if you can shed some light on "How long does it take to grant a work permit from the time its applied, i have already provided attested documents"
@yacine.h appreciate your feedback, thanks a lot!
What an absolute nonsense from Lucky Luciano. Kirumyin, it is a very good salary and you will be able to live very comfortably with it. Bear in mind though that you will not enjoy the school allowance and the full furniture allowance unless your bring your family. Otherwise there is no school allowance and most probably only single furniture allowance (less than married furniture allowance).
That said, your position is not clear. If you are the Executive director, Managing director or chairman, then 40k is not that much. If you are the manager of a department (finance manager, procurement manager, etc.) then it should be fine.
For what kind/position of Job? Surely it can't be at a manager level position
British Nationals are paid at least QR 100,000 a month solely based on their nationality.
