Brit: Not just in the GCC but even in my country schools are no longer just educational institutions but have become money-making machines. In my country they do not call it a "re-registration" fee. It is called a "donation!" This "donation" is demanded at the time of admissions. The level of "demand" varies from school to school depending on its popularity. If no "donation" is made, no admission is provided. These "donations" to my knowledge, do not get taxed. SEC has taken a great step to stop this nonsense here in Qatar. I can very well feel the pain parents had to bear in paying this "re-registration" fee.
