edifis, If they can make methanol here, they could also make ethanol but that would be probably four times the price of a similar blend sold in the shops!!

Presently, this technology is not viable commercially and frankly I am not optimistic on it being viable in the near future looking at the processes involved.

A straight forward and environmentally friendly innovation would be to limit it to synthesizing of hydrogen from water and then come out with low cost hydrogen internal combustion engines to be used in automobiles.
