I caught a snatch of a live bbc news programme yesterday in which the Pakistani Ambassador to London was being interviewed:

Interviewer: This raises questions concerning that perhaps the Pakistanis have been shielding bin Laden in this compound.

Ambassador: No, we never knew he was here in Pakistan, if we did we would have got him ourselves.

Interviewer: But how could he have lived there, in that compound, all these years without the military or government knowing about it?

Ambassador: No, no, no, no, he was not there for years, he only moved in there a few days ago.

Interviewer: So how do you know he was there for only a few days? You just said you did not know that he was even in Pakistan!

Ambassador: What? Errrr......
