China backs Pakistan govt after Osama bin Laden's death

BEIJING: China on Tuesday suggested it feared serious instability in Pakistan, and would support the Zardari regime to the hilt. In its zeal to protect Pakistani rulers, China even indicated it would not pressurize Pakistan to hand over the perpetuators of the Mumbai terrorist attack to India.

"We have noted the Pakistan foreign ministry has said after the incident that it will never allow its territory to be used for terrorist activities and terrorist attacks against any country and Pakistan will continue to support the international efforts against terrorism," Jiang said.

......and the drama just got spicier with the Chinese suddenly identifying their cross culture comrade,... A shoulder hugging duet is in line! "Yeh.... Dosti...., Hum nahi.... chodenge....,Chodenge....dum magar...,Tere saat na chodenge,...."

How can you claim to build even a small house in a normally fuctioning country with out the concerned authorities seeing it?The water and electricity authories will come to know, the local hospital would have had at least one visit, the grocer, and countless others....If ISI and govt claims to not have known then .....well the less said about their "intelligence" is better!

Americans did know that the money they are sending is not being used for its intended purpose.

An old newspaper article from 2008 mentioning the GAO report

This whole episode goes to show how incompetent and uninformed the americans are. They have been blindly supporting and bankrolling this goverments in Pakistan and the Pakistanis have been using the same funds to train terrorists and attack the usa while hiding their leaders at their military facilities

They knew he was there - they HAD to know. At what stage they knew he was there is not known. In my mind they have known and tipped the USA off.

I don't think they (USA) would have gone in without the Pakistani's backing it.

It was a joint operation. Fair play to Pakistan though if they did tip the USA off.

I caught a snatch of a live bbc news programme yesterday in which the Pakistani Ambassador to London was being interviewed:

Interviewer: This raises questions concerning that perhaps the Pakistanis have been shielding bin Laden in this compound.

Ambassador: No, we never knew he was here in Pakistan, if we did we would have got him ourselves.

Interviewer: But how could he have lived there, in that compound, all these years without the military or government knowing about it?

Ambassador: No, no, no, no, he was not there for years, he only moved in there a few days ago.

Interviewer: So how do you know he was there for only a few days? You just said you did not know that he was even in Pakistan!

Ambassador: What? Errrr......
