I read exiledsaint.. and he's blaming society for a shameful act of few...that's what I read..handicapped is not shameful in Arab's eyes.. I'm of Arabic descent.. even though I'm from the U.S.. and I sure know about this culture more than you..
we don't need education to believe that handicapped kids are from God and we should appreciate what God sends us and be thankful no matter what.. I've had friends with handicapped kids.. and the mother used to find her daughter the most beautiful intellegent kid in the world! I praised God when I saw how her family appreciated their kid being alive after all what they've been throug..
my cousin is handicapped and is very smart and funny.. his mom and sister and brother.. do everything for their son.. who is 45 years old now.. yet they never complain..

again.. exiledsaint.. an incident you heard about in the news has nothing to do with Arab's culture!
as for .....pre marital sex(which is off subject btw)
premarital sex is shameful in each and every religion.. and just because your "culture" ignores that.. that doesn't mean it's right... sex outside of marriage is not right.. and many non muslim cultures believe the same..
just because you feel something is "normal" for you.. that doesn't mean it's normal for others..
