Girl Tortured To Death ...:(

By Rizks

AMMAN (AFP) - Two Jordanians have been arrested for allegedly torturing to death their 19-year-old mentally handicapped sister after keeping her in a pen for years, police said on Wednesday.

"The girl died on Tuesday of torture. She was beaten and burned to death," in the southern city of Karak, a police spokesman told AFP, identifying the victim's first name as Najwa.

"She was kept in a pen for years because her family was ashamed that she was mentally handicapped. An autopsy found more than 50 injuries and fractures on different parts of her body."

He said her brothers "used to beat her every time she cried and screamed of pain."

"The two men have been arrested."

According to police, 1,261 cases of violence against women were recorded in Jordan last year.

PS: I hope they dont get away with only 3YRS jail...:(

thats wat i said nomerci

that boasting that we r naturally good human beings

and that we dont harm anyone and we r naturally kind

and so on

so wat ?

and yes arrogance that dont do for ourself (to earn brownie points) but for u - as u need our services!!!

why make them feel low?

why cant it be said that serving u is our need ,

it is going to benefit us more than it will benefit u

rather we take pride in being a good human being, rather than knowing that it is obligatory for us to be good to them

it is not a problem for them eventually , even if they suffer in this world they will enjoy the reward in the hereafter, only joy and happiness

whereas we will be the losers , and suffering for the carelessness we imparted towards them

I've been here for 2 months.. and have seen..hmmmmmmm(counting in my mind)....1-2-3-4-5-6-7.. sheesh lady.. I think you should get out more!

Inshallah the poor girl is in a far better place now. But as for the brutes who did this to her then I hope they get their comeuppance..pronto! Evil scumbags..Disgusting family was ashamed of having a handicapped child but not ashamed to torture her randomly to death. What a screwed up bunch they are, indeed! And so far away from the actual knowledge of right and wrong..sickening!

Rawda, that it comes naturally to care for somebody is not boasting. Well, IMHO...but praying for a "righteous" child...well...what is there left to say.

As I said, I do not do things to earn brownie points here or for what you call the "hereafter". I do happily what comes naturally :)

isnt that boasting?

oh im so charitable

as if we r doing a favour on a disabled child?

rather than humbleling ourself and offering ourself to their servies willingly and as something which we should do

we actually boast abt being a good human being!!!

it is as if charity for her, not our duty

Well I hope hand on heart that first of all you are blessed with a child. There is nothing more wonderful than having a child.

I also hope there is nothing 'wrong' with it.

You see, these parents do not view their children as a 'burden' - they love them very, very much.

What is a burden - is people not accepting them and loving them the same as a 'normal' person.

However, she needs to read the threads more carefully (this could be a language thing).

u will understand the meaning of these words only when u have a disabled child in ur homes

yes there r people who do these good works out of compassion and sympathy

but we should know that showing compassion and sympathy is not enough

wat we should realise that more than these children need our assistance

we need them!!!

we need them, it is our need to look after these people

they r the source of mercy, they r wat will bring us success and victory and ease the pains of our lives

it is because of them that Allah will look at us with pleasure,

so from just an humane act now it has the status of a "act of excellence"

an act which will make us the best of people !!

About point 2. i think we had a discussion about this a long time ago. See, the thing with the schools here is that parents and companies pay a s h i t load of money for kids to attend...plus, spaces are scarce.

Plus a disabled child, of course depending on how severe the child is disabled, can slow down a class. Which causes a problem because they already have problems fitting the curriculum into the year, due to several added local holidaysIn my son's class is a child that needs special help, due to several reasons...but his problems are minimal...still it causes disruption.

Now don't get me wrong, I am all for disabled kids joining mainstream schools...I am just mentioning some resons why this does not happen much here.

By anonymous• 10 Mar 2011 19:14
anonymous

Would it not be great if there was an ignore button on the thread?

By anonymous• 10 Mar 2011 19:10
anonymous

people here r suggesting that the society should accept the disabled child willingly and care for them?

tell me why will they?

wat benefit will they get?

except for expenses there is nothing

who is there to appreciate their efforts?

of course it is a humane act i know everybody knows , including their gaurdians

have u ever thought of the immense amount of patience needed to take care of disabled people?

the emotional stress the gaurdian has to go through??

it is not as simple as charity!

it involves physical involvement, mental involvement, monetary capacity, struggle, and much more

it is like having a 2 year old dependent upon u all the time

the only way a person will suffer all these extra efforts is when he will realise the importance of such a humane act- an act par excelence in the sight of Allah

he might get nothing but struggle in this world taking care of the disability of his child in this world,

but after death he will be compensated in ways never know to any man - an unparrelled reward

Now, it is the duty of the whole society to establish schools for those persons and secure them due care so that they become good members of the society and that they benefit themselves and their families.

In the West, great care is shown to the disabled. It is duty of we Muslims to shoulder the responsibility of showing the utmost care to those people, for, according to the teachings of our religion, those persons are sources of Divine mercy and blessings being showered on us now and then. They are the weak for whose sake we are given sustenance and made victorious.

In his Hadith, our Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “You are given sustenance and victory for the virtue of those who are weak amongst you.” We, should show mercy and care to the disabled out of both human and religious motives. In Islam, we are commanded to show mercy to everything in this world. In the Hadith: “Show mercy to those on earth so that He Who is in the heavens (i.e. Allah) bestow mercy to you.”

these children r the very source of mercy of Allah on us

may Allah grant us the strength and the pleasure in taking care of such babies and help all in overcoming the hurt in the hearts

By anonymous• 10 Mar 2011 19:08
anonymous

There are two major obstacles to overcome and lots of minor ones lol

1)We have to change the mind-set of some people that see a disability as a weakness or something to be ashamed of. This is, shall we say ‘a problem with culture and communities’.

2)And this may come as a shock – schools (mainly ex-pat schools) refuse to take children with special needs.

Money is not a problem at all; and there are budgets are in place ONCE we can convince schools over here that children with special needs do learn – it is just in a different way.

There is lots to do and when I say slowly; it is not just a ‘local problem’; you ring the likes of D*S* and D*h* C*l*eg* and tell them you have a kid with special needs and you will not even get a foot in the door.

the same once saint told that we are brainwashing peoples here...this is what these peoples are thinking...so it is difficult for them to understand what ur saying

By anonymous• 10 Mar 2011 18:57
anonymous

nobody here including me has ever denied that many people regard handicapped children not only as burden but also as a shame.

but islam has taught us that:

it is a apparent human perception that disability is a weakness - however the fact is that Allah ignores the mistakes of such people immensly and showers them with mercy - and He fills the heart of many people with mercy towards them - that is why many people become outraged ass soon as they know that injustice has been done to a helpless human being!!

in the sight of Allah the one who totures them is the worst people and thier punishement is also tremendous

though they might get away with it inthis world they will crtainly have to answer for their behaviour in hereafter - on the day of resurrection

when these very handicapped peope would be happy and their torturers will be severly punished as well as those who failed to render them justice

that is why the position of "judge" is most freted one in islam - equivalent suicide

because even if he judges a case wrongly by mistake - not purposefully he will have to reply for that and compensate

By nomerci• 10 Mar 2011 18:57

That poor child!

Can I just add something here re- 'hidden children' in Arabic society.

They do have a long way to go with regards the situation they have.

Syria actually keeps the best statistics for the number of special children they have.

Was speaking to a local lady last week; who was so frustrated with regards her son’s needs. He is not 'bad' enough for the Shaffalah Centre; but can't get main-stream here (yet).

She mentioned the fact it took her 'community' a long time to accept this child’s condition. Quite sadly she pointed out to me - 'ex-pats can take their kids home; this is my home and I get little support from family and schools'.

Things are changing though and remember it was not too long ago in the West that children/people with disabilities were locked away, used for medical experimentation and abused by their carers.

I read exiledsaint.. and he's blaming society for a shameful act of few...that's what I read..handicapped is not shameful in Arab's eyes.. I'm of Arabic descent.. even though I'm from the U.S.. and I sure know about this culture more than you..

we don't need education to believe that handicapped kids are from God and we should appreciate what God sends us and be thankful no matter what.. I've had friends with handicapped kids.. and the mother used to find her daughter the most beautiful intellegent kid in the world! I praised God when I saw how her family appreciated their kid being alive after all what they've been throug..

my cousin is handicapped and is very smart and funny.. his mom and sister and brother.. do everything for their son.. who is 45 years old now.. yet they never complain..

again.. exiledsaint.. an incident you heard about in the news has nothing to do with Arab's culture!

as for .....pre marital sex(which is off subject btw)

premarital sex is shameful in each and every religion.. and just because your "culture" ignores that.. that doesn't mean it's right... sex outside of marriage is not right.. and many non muslim cultures believe the same..

just because you feel something is "normal" for you.. that doesn't mean it's normal for others..

If a woman has sex outside of marriage in the arab world it is called shameful, if you children are handicapped for some that is shameful as well. If you don't understand that then you have a limited knowledge of the arab world. However its not something they like to talk about.

We can't wait for the resurrection, we need justice to be handed out in this world to people who perpretate such acts.

man is behaving like an animal

or even worse!

how can a human being think that he can torture an poor helpless soul and then get away with it?

yes even after such a gruesome crime has been brought to our attention

yet we r not sure if the poor girl would ever get justice

- in any part of the world

this is an unavoidable fact - happens with millions around the world - suppressed and tyrannised and nobody to help them get justice

no doubt God has taught us that

bearing injustice is a sin

inflicting injustice is sin

aiding injustice directly or indirectly is a sin

and if the injustice is against a helpless person the sin is all the more gruesome

no doubt mankind will obtain true justice only on the day of resurrection - otherwise this world can do nothing for us

the day of judejement is the only hope for the poor soul

so that the criminal can be punished for every single bruise they inflicted upon her
