Most Filipina thinks the word "habibi" is just normal as like calling someone "my friend" or "my dear"...and for most of us it doesn't mean anything malicious. It is same as calling an older man "BABA"
Sometimes when I have arguements with an arabic guy collegue or I need to explain something he could hardly understand related to works, I often says "Ya Habibi! listen to me...this is so and so...". But it doesn't mean that I love him or I like him. See, the difference?
