Here what happens in some shops

Straight Arrow
By Straight Arrow

And what happens is that many filipina work in some shops where DVD or restaurants or any other shop give the Qatari a normal look and being nice smiling (This very good because the seller should be nice to sell the items in the shop) and the Qatari may smile and say thanks after buying the item.
On the other hand some filipina will smile and say hi habibi (love) because she see this Qatari more than one time and then this Qatari will think that she wants him, and he will run after her and think badly, but this Qatari should know all filipina are the same.
Some Qatari will not pay any attention and just leave normally or tell her please do not see habibi, and will explain to her that habibi is to be said for husband or boyfriend but not for some one you do not know.
Will let us agree that we should respect each other and respect the limits.

???? What an odd post.????

I think i just killed some brain cells reading about this odd advice to filipinas. How about lebanese girls saying habibi? I wonder if any of my lebanese aquintances even know my name? How about my arab male friends who call me habibi? What is the issue here, non native arabic speakers using the word habibi? Girls using the word in an intimate manner? What about when girls say sweetie, or honey, or babe when they are not your girl friend.

You have soooooooooo many issues!

The other day it western naked people in dressing rooms and/saunas.

Today, it's Filipinas saying "habibi"

Now, what if a naked person called you habibi?

Would your world (as you know it) just shatter into a million pieces and you would be destroyed?

Hey, Habibi, I'm talking to you. What say you?

because you judge all people by one person, you are like one french girl who hate all mexicans you know why?

Well maybe because she had a mexican friend who dumped her.

I will not attack the women mantality, but let us agree that there are many women think all men are bad because these upset women faced bad men and this is also applicable for some men who think all women are bad because these men faced bad women.

But is this true?

...filipinas. Is it jealousy? Or the taste of their shoes/slippers? Somehow a lot of QLers get a kick out of Philipino bashing and still I see those long queques in front of Chowking and herds of men trying to show off to get attention from the same filipinas whom they enjoy mud slinging on QL. Talk about double standards.

I also agree that there some Arab who are wicked and some are good.

If you heard one filipina calling a Qatari or a non filipino as "Habibi", dont come the next day and post this thread, because this man might be her bf visiting her at her workplace, or her friend..whatever...Is the problem is that she did not smile to you and tell you habibi also?:)

Most Arabs call thier friends "habibi" sometimes and even strangers when they dont know thier names. Same things with non Arabs, they still can call strangers as "habibi". It depends on the situation itself and not the "word"

Did you have a bad experiance with a Filipina or what? Whats the matter with you? don't let me guess your story in the same way you do/did to others. If you are good in imagining things and making your own stories, others have better than yours and can tell your story too.

Again, People are different, so if one filipina cheated a dumb mind, that is his/your problem and it does not mean that all are the same.

There are many conservative/primitive minded and jelous women who envy others in the Filex for example, and might attack you in this thread, although I also dissagree with what you think.

My sentence usually starts with "Listen good, habibi..." coz sometimes, they don't clearly understand what I say when I speak ENGLISH too fast for their understanding.

I agree, people should be cautious with what they say as this may be understood differently. Try "sadeeq" instead...

Most Filipina thinks the word "habibi" is just normal as like calling someone "my friend" or "my dear"...and for most of us it doesn't mean anything malicious. It is same as calling an older man "BABA"

Sometimes when I have arguements with an arabic guy collegue or I need to explain something he could hardly understand related to works, I often says "Ya Habibi! listen to me...this is so and so...". But it doesn't mean that I love him or I like him. See, the difference?

I think Khalid is merely saying that the Filipina should never call somebody Habibi since this may imply a bad connotation to a mere acquiantance ( since Habibi means my sweetheart).. so, call him Habibi only if he is your boyfriend...

But what made the conflict is that he said Filipinas are the same, which is of course, I OBJECT 100% since I am not Ms. Congeniality.. and I don't call an acquaintance (arab nationality),"Habibi", I simply nod and smile as a sign of respect. KALAS! :) No need for further conversations especially if there is no need to have one.. :)

Reminder to those being called Habibi on a first meeting, it doesn't mean anything at all..It doesn't invite you nor is the girl flirting with you.. Maybe, the girl here is just trying to be sweet to attract the customer, plain and simple.
