I don't know enough about the religion to definitively say that Muslims cannot consume any alcohol. When I googled it, I got a link to a fatwa from Sheikh Youssef Al-Qaradawi saying that it is okay for Muslims to drink alcoholic beverages under some circumstances. http://www.dailystaregypt.com/article.aspx?ArticleID=13080
Be that as it may, as far as I can tell, most of the time I'm at the bars here in Doha (and granted it isn't that often) more than half the patrons present look Arab and are probably Muslim.
Why don't they just ban all Muslims from going in to bars and from ordering alcohol at restaurants?
Perhaps the liquor laws should be tightened so that only QDC card holders can consume ANY alcohol under ANY circumstance.
However as long as the many many many loop holes exist allowing men and women of all religions to drink alcohol, it's petty, in my view, to keep Qatari females out of the local bars.
