I don't want to be a Qatari girl!!

I Wish I was a Man and not a Woman

I’m a Qatari, I was born in Qatar, raised, studied and currently working, even though I never liked living here! I had a different mentality than other Qatari girls in here, of course as a Qatari girl there are rules coming from religion, culture and traditions that have to be followed. But I never cared about any of it, I lived for me, for whatever makes me happy.
I always respected these rules, I don’t break any of them on public. I think everybody should have the freedom to do anything they want. I’m a Muslim but I don’t do everything Islam ask for, simply because I don’t believe in it, like Hijab, I don’t cover, alcohol, I drink occasionally . The conclusion is I do whatever, the sky is the limit for me it’s my choice my decision.
Why do Qatari girls have to be a copy of something that they are not. A copy of a perfect little girl that only exists in a fairy tale, in the fairy tale, this Qatari girl have to stay at home as long as she is not working or at school. She should only meet her husband couple of times before they get married and She has to do what her parents tells her to do and never takes a decision for herself. And god forbids she did something her parents don’t agree on, she will either be honorably killed or beaten severely.
What made me write this article is that one day I decided to go to a club here in Qatar I got dressed, got to the club then the bouncer at the door says: show me your ID.
I give him my ID he look at me then he give me back my ID and says you can’t go in.
I asked: why?
He said: because you’re a Qatari!!!!
I said: so…
He said: Qatari girls are not allowed in the club!
I said: Qatari’s can’t go clubbing?
He said: no only Qatari men, woman not allowed!
So turns out the government in Doha had posted a new rule which is “not allowing Qatari girls to go clubbing” I think it’s unfair I want to do it what the hell do the law has to do with it???????
Everywhere you go here, you will notice the double standards laws and regulations. It is totally sexist. I hate being a girl in Qatar , wish I was a boy

If you "don't believe" then you are not a Muslim. You are what Allah called them (Munafqeen منافقين) because you choose what you like to do and leave what you don't like. My dear, Islam is not just saying the Shahada by your tongue and doing the five pillars like a robot and showing others (Riyaa'رياء). People like you have been around even when Prophet Muhammad Peace be upon him was alive. So don't consider yourself to be a special or new case. الله يهديج إن شاء الله

Poor girl superwoman.

Do you think a human should always get whatever he or she wants. I dont think so.

For those who are trying to say about freedom to do whatever you like to do; why you think that a human should be allowed to do whatever he or she is willing to do? what for are courts and governments, if that is the case. Why are we all requesting for a law or constitution. Is it always correct and true what we feel or interpret?

She's not Qatari for sure...

Really.. You poor soul.. hitting the walls... dying for attention..

Really feel sorry for an imposter like you..

Qatari girls are really proud of what they are and how they are raised...

Thanks God.. I'm a Qatari girl who can have the best of everything while being protected.. cared for... provided for if ever needed.. and so much more, just like a princess, but of course you wouldn't know.. for you not a "REAL" Qatari girl!!

Qatari girls' goals are to be great daughters.. wives.. mothers... and to have great roles in Qatar's progress and development..

But unfortunately, there are no ambitious Qatari girls that would ever have such "great goals" as yours dear!!!!!!!...

So go on... Hope you achieve them...!!!!

it's simple you are living in a Muslim country so you have to follow its rules and wear hijab, or go to any other country those dont beleive in hijab and have fun over there, but put in mind the life after.

My other option is getting a fake ID may work.

but seriously do you drink? OMG i dont beleive it.

There are clearly differences between the benefits and drawbacks of being a man versus a woman and as a guy I will never be able to truely understand your position.

It's refreshing to hear from someone who was born here, but refuses to get brainwashed into believing that freedom is a bad thing.

Englishbloke, it's good to keep positive, but with only one chance to live, I don't think anyone should force themselves to be complacent with the rubbish this girl has to put up with.

With that said, if I were you I would bail out of this place as quickly as you could and never look back. Ever.

@ exiled : Not true, the same article about the American, also mentioned a Qatari who got sentenced to one month in jail and 40 lashes for being intoxicated and being a public nuisance by shouting in public. So it appears they will let a Western expat escape practically free of any serious charges for drunk driving and crashing, but will lash and imprison Qataris for being a nuisance in public while intoxicated.

By anonymous• 27 May 2010 12:07
Rating: 2/5

kbaisi, fully agree with you. Bars should be available for all but there should be tough penalties for those that drink and drive. The police should set up road blocks every now and then and breath test people at random.

If they give you the freedom to drink you should not abuse it and put people's lives at risk.

(Maybe the reason they do not do it, is they are worried they will catch too many Qataris...)

Another thing that is related to the topic, I think if Qatar wants to legalize alcohol, they should also put up measures to ensure people are responsible when they drink, because quite frankly the are not many in place. As much as I hear about Qatar suffering from the 'land cruiser syndrome', I never hear anyone talking about the 'drunk driving expats syndrome', I have seen this happening frequently and it's just ridiculous. I also recall reading an article in the newspaper of an American who got no jail time for crashing while driving drunk, all he got was a warning, such light sentences are regular if the offense is DUI and the perpetrator is from a Western nation.

If they can't control these idiots and punish them adequately, then perhaps they should take the Kuwait approach and keep the country dry, but they won't do that for obvious reasons, so therefore they need more police to make sure the roads are safe, day and night, as opposed to having them staking out parking lots to issue tickets for parking violations.

You guys are missing the point here, the fact is Qatar is always trying to transform itself into the 'modern' state, and one of the fundamentals of such states is the idea of equality before the law for everyone who is subjected to the law, you can't have laws applied to some and not to others. Either they ban alcohol and clubs for everyone, or legalize it for everyone, this whole selective application of the law hits at the credibility of the state in respect to discrimination. Some will say yeah but drinking/clubbing is 'bad' for them, well if it is bad for them, then it should be bad for everyone, you can't have it 'good' for some but 'bad' for others.

'Drinking, Clubbing is not only the part of life and all countries in World do prohibit woman,'

Really? Not something I've seen in a lot of countries, in fact I would say the countries of the gulf of the exception.

Not all countries are called the motherland, Germany for instance is known as the Fatherland but that really is a stupid point. Names mean nothing, they are just propaganda for the weak and the disadvantaged.

A country is represented by Women. Country in not called fatherland, it is called Motherland. Apparently they have their values and they are indeed respected. Being a Muslim, girl you have more value, you may not be aware, the respect you get in public and with international community.

Isolation from "threats" instead of education to face the world?

That is why women in this region remain in a dormant passive and subjugated position:

The bad news is that a serious deficit in women's rights persists in every country in the MENA region.

In no country in the world can women claim to have all the same rights and opportunities as men. But according to Sanja Kelly, the project's director, "it is in the MENA region that the gap between the rights of men and those of women has been the most visible and severe.

Women face gender-based discrimination in personal-status laws, which regulate every aspect of family life. Gender-based violence also remains a significant problem," said Sanja Kelly in her introduction to the report.

All Superwoman is asking for is equal treatment in front of the law is that no so hard to see?

As for her being a mulsim and being protected by this discrimination, then surely the Qatari men are muslims too and should be banned from entering anywhere that sells alcohol.

You can't say that you love your women and you protect them by keeping them safe and do that by discriminating against them.

The animals in the zoo are safe but you cannot say they are free....

"there is a fine line between opression and protection"true...there is also a fine line between"freedom of choice" and "abuse" .Iam not muslim, but what I gather frm here is that the rules they have [the basic rules]are for the better lives / protection of women and all pple concerned. It is the fanatic explanations of pple that cause the problem.

Superwoman, going to clubs with your friends for fun is fun , but can get problematic as well depending on the type of pple u deal with , look at the situations in the west where it is the norm.I throughly understand that inspite of the many rules imposed in any society, pple will remain human with all of it's vices, and here these are done secretivly.

The trick my dear is to find a happy choice between essential freedom and non esential abuse of too much freedom, keeping within the specific teaching of the religion of course, not it's adaptations by the society.

You don’t need a residential permit to enter bars in Qatar.

Any tourist holding any passport (except females with Qatari passport) may enter any bar. All you need is your original passport, copies are not accepted.

but i would suggest having a good friend circle where you could make it for house parties

I was not allowed into a club my self as i did not have a residential permit that sucks too doesnt it

Which mean if I came here on a tourism Visa i would not get a chance to enter a club WOW!! that would be fun

No, I believe she did. And here you go again with the same shit, still beating that dead horse.

You're definition of free may be different than mine. So keep that in mind.

Why run around in circles ? What you're essentially saying is that we're being held back because of Islam. I don't agree with that. You're living in an Islamic country, if you or your friend superwoman don't like it then you can find another country that agrees with your obscene philosophy on life. There's nothing holding you back. You are not held here against you're will nor you're the prisoners you're claiming to be.

Let me put it to you this way. I don't care for your opinion. I think that you're the one that is brain washed into thinking you're better than everyone else. I also don't care for you method of getting your point across.

Now it's important to keep this civilized. So let me say that it's your personal opinion, don't try to force it on others.

By Nic• 9 Mar 2010 07:55
Nic

Marboosh,

No she did not get the point across. Many many other girls and boys here in the Gulf will never be free, at least for the next few decades and maybe centuries.

Mentalities are still to retrograde (in the name of culture and religion preservation)!

It’s sad, but it’s a reality to many inhabitants in the Gulf and the worse is that most of them are carefully brain washed removing their ability to see their own trap.

Note: This oppression is not necessarily caused by religion. Other Muslim country out of the GCC, tend to be more in line with modern societies of the XXI century.

It’s a well known sad reality, often debated by experts outside GCC. Unfortunately those debates and the real perception of the world towards these archaic societies rarely are exposed in GCC and therefore do not exercise any pressure on those in power.

That is why these societies are so underdeveloped and their people can’t compete in the international stage.

All the best for those who are able to awake from their enclosures!

Superwoman,

Your post shows lots of anger towards the country but I think your anger should be towards your parents rather than Qatar

You make Qatar sound like it's in the stone age, everything and everybody changed dear but few only "few" people are still the same. And I'm sorry that you live in a family that you don't fit in. As I know lots of Qatari girls studying abroad and acting as free at they want in and out of Qatar

As for the religion, it's a shame that your a Muslim.. you should covert because after what you wrote I don't think you're considered a Muslim, if your passport says that you are that is not necessarily it.

So the US has more money. You know nothing of GDP per capita of which Qatar is the highest in the world. Have you ever wondered why nearly all the locals drive hire end luxuary cars and most familes have 3 plus cars? Do you thunk it is because of all the world beating businesses here or because of a lot of hydrocarbons in the ground?

You should consider yourself lucky to be rich because of the accident of your birth in Qatar rather than make stupid statements like women getting raped in public. Just because the newspapers here don't report it don't think it doesn't happen.

Superwoman, my wife and I are with you. I've been in many places and I've checked many religions and cultures. After 3 years in Saudi I realize is not only women suffering under the same regime but guys as well. Double face culture is here everywhere, even in my office where they favored locals and not expat but we are all "staff"...and at the end of the day, we're the one keeping the company up!

Unfortunately it is a matter of mind set to fight against to and is not worthy. This kind of regime does not understand that love and education is what you need to differentiate good from evil and not repression. No matter what muslims replied to your original letter, I am very sure they know and agreed, in some level, what you said.

What you can do, if you have resources, is to get the academic knowledge you may need and working experience and aim for another place to carry on the life you deserve. I've done it already being for more than 10 years out of my home country and it's not on my plans to come back yet. I'll get another nationality pretty soon.

Best regards

The US has more money than all of the Gulf countries … but they choose to spend it in making weapons and send some to Israel to kill the Palestinians so the Jewish leave America and Europe and move to Palestine … but what had happed that most of the Jewish that moved to Palestine were from poor countries like Russia, Poland, East Germany and some from African countries.

The rich Jewish opened business only and they went back to Europe and to US, because smart business people will not live in a country with big budget shortage that reach to an avg. of 6 billion dollars every year !! The US sends billion and billion of dollars and free weapons so Israel survive.

I have been to a lot of European countries, China and the Far East, I never saw in any country so many homeless people like I saw in America… don’t you think that US government should spend some money on those poor people first…none of the pollutions care about them or about why the US helps Israel with billon of dollars, simply the Jewish are controlling the media and the economy sector.

Now you don’t have a problem with the way Qataris wish to live, what changed your mind? Now you started to use you head!! Good will keep it that way!!

Crime is on the rise in Qatar because in 2003 the population of Qatar was 650,000… only 205,000 are Qatari… it jumped to 1,600,000 in 2008 and Qatari became 220,000 only. Most of the crimes that were committed were by Asian nationality; Qatari who committed crimes is less than 1%.

Teenage pregnancy … is not an issue here, because we don’t have sex freedom like you have …but it will be an issue if we allow people like you and like “Superwomen” who she is none Qatari and speaks in behalf of the Qatari women, and wants Qatari girls to fool around and drink, have boyfriends and get pregnant with children outside marriage maybe from one or two different men and may catch Aids!! That’s not acceptable, if that is called freedom than the hell with freedom.

You mentioned that our Government only allow some of the news to be published and not others we have internet and satellites channels to get news from, but again do you think having you daughter photo in a newspaper telling the public that this teenage got drank and screwed by a boy that made her pregnant will make you happy!! Maybe you will call that freedom!! But Qatari we call that Shameful!!

No one asked you to close you eyes?!... but close your mouth and mind your own business when it comes to our religion and culture!! We don’t want anther Dubai here!! Just concentrate on how you catch dogs (wow what a job)!! I am proud to be a Qatari and spoon fed by Qatari … studding abroad toot me how fake is your freedom!!

One big difference between Qatar and the US. Qatar has lots and lots of money to lavish on their population.

If the poor Americans had the same opportunities, zero unemployment, paid university, free elec and water, free land, guaranteed promotions at work etc.... then I am sure the level of crime would be low, teenage pregnancy etc....

Yemen has a similar culture to Qatar but zero money and look at the problems they have there. Ditto Somalia.

Qatari-femme,

Nobody here is telling anybody to do or to be whatever!

You are just a lucky Qatari girl who has the chance to do whatever somewhere else (even though you chose not to).

The only discussion that is going on here is about the girl who wrote the initial post, who represents the oppressed Qatari girls who wished they had more individual freedom of choice!

And not about anybody who wants Qatari culture to change. No non-Qatari gives a damn about how oppressed or free-minded your society is. If all Qataris like, we are OK with it. It’s exotic and eccentric and people like to look at things with those characteristics (as long as it doesn’t involve human sufferance)!

People in general just feel sorry and care for human beings who are not free (in general) and suffer with that, that's all!

I know some will not gona like what I am saying, but please you guys and I'm addressing this to those who are not Qataris, please STOP telling us what to do and what to do, I understand you're just stating you pov's however, you probably didn't still comprehended completely the Qatari culture and the religion and how this goes together ,remember Qatar isn't a secular country after all !

I am here in the US, I can do what ever i want and just cut it lose! But I didn't wana do such thing, in matter of fact, I thought i was angry at my society back in Qatar, but after me spending years here in the US, I discovered that I was wrong, see how much the american society in deep deep problems from debts to unemployment, from teen pregnancy to alcoholic and drugs problems, homeless people who don't know anything about their families

Yes, we do have some problems in the Qatari society, but hey at least women are respected! No one is gona harass me for wearing hejab, no one is gona call me a muslim terrorist, no one is gona attack me in the middle of the night if i am out to rob me and point a gun to my head! and these are few scenarios that can happen to any girl, yet there's no such thing in Qatar!

Freedom isn't about drinking, clubbing, doing drugs and dress inappropriately! You're mistaken God gave you the freedom, God gave people the freedom and what human kind did? they took it away from Black and enslave them!

So it's a problem with mankind, we screw everything up and then we run and we wana fix it but sometimes it's too late to do so!

So, the bottom line is and i truly believe in it if Islam said don't do x,y,z there's a reason, there's a logic behind whither in the short run or the long run and of course people who should obey will be awarded.

& those who said men and women should be treated equally in Qatar, yes I do agree with some restriction and I do agree to some extant. But compared to so many country's history and the way they treated women, or blacks we are way better. The US gained it's independence 1776,and they started women suffrage or in plain english women right to vote in 1922 ! whereas Qatar gained their independence in 1971 women got the right to vote in the municipality council in 1999 ! Can you guys do the math ?

& the examples goes on and on and on ..

'till later, take care and think and act responsibly !

I look at the world realistically, I don't have a problem with the way Qataris wish to live... but it would seem like not all your countrymen and women feel the same.

I love your "rose coloured glasses' that you look through... I am sorry to disappoint you, but just because the media doesn't report things that happen in Qatar like they do in western countries does not mean to say they don't happen here.

1) Crime is on the rise - take a look at the posts that are posted here and on the odd occassion in the newspaper (when they are allowed to print it - and also only the ones they have caught - never the ones that got away) - The only reason its not as rampant as it is in my country.... there are 45million south africans (excluding the illigal immigrants) and not enough policemen - in Qatar, the population is so small that its easy to control things - thats why people get caught, quickly.

2) Teenage pregnancy - Aids - Diseases - Again, has to do with what can be printed and not - I know of 2 Qatari women that have been removed from Qatar for babies out of marriage - no one talks about them. Aids and other diseases - not recorded amongst the population because locals don't have to submit to blood tests like foreigners do - wonder how many cases of AIDS return after trips abroad.

Now all this being said - I love Qatar, I consider it my home - but I am not going to close my eyes to things anymore than I would in my own country just because someone tells me too - I have my own mine - given to me by God - and he expects me to use it.

If you studied abroad, you should have learnt 1)That there is more to the world out there, than what you are spoon fed here, 2) Hollywood is not real life 2) Sometimes people twist things to fit their own agenda!

I studied in USA it took me 6 years to complete my collage degree, in the town where I lived their was 13 death casualties per week due to drinking and driving.

One of my neighbors daughter got pregnant when she was 16 yeas old, she rune away and until the day I left the state she was missing and no one knows what she was doing to support her child!! Her ex-boyfrind got another girl pregnant just 2 years later!!

Pathetic.

don’t you know that your world, the way you twist it and choose to describe it does NOT represent the entire 100% population of what you love to call The West?!

These things happen, because they involve humans and as far as I know there are humans in every culture and religion. So, chances are these things might also happen in your own door step, except if they do, they will sure not make it to the public eye.

I pity so much ignorance dictated by high ranked (almost devine) severe restrictions to learn!!!!!!

Believe me that if you were NOT QATARI you'll be dreaming of being Qatari, Just take a tour around your country, and try to transmigrate other female life in that country and see what freedom means to you. No one is accepting his life as a whole, there is always something derogating, it is every where in the world. Be thankful that you are Muslim but are you? may be not because you did not know Islam yet,, Why ,,,, because it is the religious of some closed people you do not like,,, do not make this takes you to hell afterwords.. may be you feel that the life is boring, you may be right, but we are making our selves' life boring,,, breakout the routine, do not make the same things repeatedly, do not make your Today a copy of Yesterday, I repeat Study Islam, but from it is right roots from Quran and Sunna, do not think that religious is rigid, people around you makes it rigid for you because they are rigid and have nothing to give you for Islam except the other face that forbids you from being alive, ,,,,, you;ll be happy from inside your heart when you satisfies Allah,, it is your soul that seeks to find the life happiness that will not be unless if your soul is clean and gets its satisfaction,, your flowers will die if didn't get water, and your soul has to be fed with religious, please wake up your soul as it seems to be dieing ,,, wake it up and get it back to life,,, this is the life.

Superwoman - you have options. If you have the self-discipline, get your degree (if you haven't alread) and go to law school. All change takes time, and it also takes those with the vision to see what changes need to be made.

Change the laws. Build your support, write new laws, have them adopted. All this takes time. It isn't going to happen overnight. You can be a driving force for change, but do it within the system; don't take unnecessary risks.

I think being in Qatar itself is a blessing, we have to learn to appreciate the things we have, we're in a politically stable country, we're safe, no drug dealers on the streets, no violence,no homeless waiting for a piece of a bread to survive, no natural disasters, etc ..

I mean seriously, once all the blessings we have are gone.. i think only then we'll appreciate what we have, that other people don't.

Points to Ponder: In this world, whatever we believe in our own different religion is that can't be save us because it's up to us on how we carry our own life. if we think what we want to do can make us happy, then why not we try and do but we always have to be careful and avoid hurting anyone in such a way can make you bad. We all can go forth, believe in yourself, be true and just do good. There will be a time to realize on how much you care, that is because to live in this world timing is important. ^_^

I think you have the right, with certain limitations of course parallel to your present state of maturity, to express yourself and say so boldly how you feel. You are given your God given right to know what and how you feel about certain things you find important to you.

I for one feel you did a remarkable job in this thread. I actually think its comparable to a breath of fresh air. Someone with the guts to just ask a simple question. The spectators shouldn't focus too much on the petty club example, it is what it is, just an example. Why o why does a culture imprison some of their own.

When you were growing up, someone should have had the privelage and duty to make you feel comfortable under your own skin. If you seek this experience to yourself, no one should judge you without really knowing. People's aggressive comments here are not always appropriate, they are not even certified mind readers to really know how you feel, still judge you with only a morsel of data to do so...terrible.

Good job, continue to find your answers, no one really cares as much as you on your feelings. You do get tired of pleasing other people before yourself, eventually.

I respect your point of view.

However, me as a Qatari girl, I am proud to be one,I don't wana live or die in any other place but my country, although I traveled to many countries had the opportunity to see and be exposed to whatever didn't exist here in Qatar, however, I chose NOT to lose my culture or my value or the basic fundamentals I was raised on! 'Cuz if I did so,I'd be like everyone else around me but the way I dress, the way I behave makes me unique especially outside Qatar, in particular Europe or the US, Cuz I think I am representing Qatar as a whole not just me as an individual.

I see where your frustration comes from, I see why you're talking this way I know many girls who (thinks)the same why some of them had the guts to do what you wana do and faced consequences, others just don't cuz they don't wana deal with the aftermath of their irresponsible behavior.

You think that going to clubs and drinking so glamorous and fun and staff? Well..You have to think twice,I lived in the US for a quiet long time and I've seen it all,i've seen people I care about destroying themselves, losing so many thing ie: money, time, values, friends and sometimes themselves too!

It's like this: you start a little fire and the fire out of a sudden gets bigger and bigger and then you realize oh! I should call the firefighters! Well guess what?! Too late, everything got burn down!!! And why? It's all because the ''Little'' fire you started !!! I hope that you got my point.

Just so you know, I am NOT super conservative type of person, I am an average type of person when it comes to religion, but I maintain certain boundaries and limits I don't cross! Although I have many friends from all over the world who are Jewish,Christians,Buddhist,atheist,agnostics,etc.. They come from different countries,I've never imposed my culture, values or religion on them, contatrly, they always loved the fact that I'm wearing hijab, and when I explained to them, why we fast, why we pray 5 times a day ,why we don't drink or eat pork,it all made sense to them!

In matter of fact,I have two class mates one of them are Korean and the other is an American, they converted to Islam by choice not by force and that reflected in their life positively? so It's not Islam that's wrong, right?

Lastly,It hurts to see a girl from my country talks in such way,cuz I care and I HATE to see anyone hurting themselves or walking on a wrong path, especially if the one we're talking about is Qatari!

There are two possibilities either you're: A) Still very young and immature ti understand life and what's fun and what's not B) You've been brainwashed.

Either ways, this is not the right way to live your life or think about life, there are other things more important than the ones you mentioned.

Hope you're NOT bothered, It's what I thought of you can either take it or leave it!

Look.. There no problem with ur Islam = The problem is with Arabs who changed Islam & start creating a lot of problems under the name of Islam. This problem (I mean Arabs) can not be solved by human like us unless we become a unity.

Any how, 4 time being I will give u some solutions hopefully it finds ur satisfaction & b sure its ur chose what do:

1- Change ur Nationality + keep ur real Islam.

2- Change ur Country + keep ur real Islam.

3- Convert 2 any other religion u like & believe on it ( I don’t prefer u 2 change ur religion) because u r going to loss ur Donya & Akira.

4- Don't change any thing & try 2 live with those problems & keep Arabs matter to be solved by Gad.

Culture & traditions is a creation of human & can b changed = a lot of changes happened & will happen in next few years.

That's the worst advice I've ever heard!

You should have an open mind, have the ability to rethink and CHANGE YOUR MIND if you are wrong.

PLEASE listen to others and try to understand how will this help you and most of all DON'T BE IGNORANT.

As far as religion. ISLAM is the coolest religion on earth, if people misunderstand it, then that's their problem.

If you're an unbiased person looking for the TRUTH and the ONLY TRUTH you'll come to find ISLAAAAAM!

Ashhad an laaaa Illaaah Ila ALLAH wa Ashhadu AN Muhammed Rasulolallah!

There is no god worthy of being worshiped except ALLAH (the one and only god) and Muhammed is his messenger and slave!

He's not the middle man between you and god, He's not the savior, he's not the enlightened one, he did not die for your sins! HE'S THE SLAVE OF ALLAH JUST LIKE ALL OF US AND DOESN'T WANT ANYTHING FROM YOU, HE JUST DELIVERED THE MESSAGE OF ISLAM THAT CAME DOWN TO HIM WHICH IS TOTAL SUBMISSION TO GOD and you don't need to make any connections to saints, preachers, or whatever to connect to god! YOU ONLY NEED YOUR HEART!!!

Please TRY TO UNDERSTAND ISLAM MY SISTER before you make such decisions.

If you think drinking, dancing and walking half naked in the street will give you more happiness and inner peace than this beautiful way of life "ISLAM" Then I feel sorry for you.

And all what us muslims can do is pray that god guides you and guides us all.

But I just want you to do one thing my sister (and every weak muslim or non-muslim)

I want you to be WANTING to find the truth. I want you to search and research... and you don't need to be biased or defend your religion because if the religion is true it will defend its self by its self. Just be rational and ask god to guide you.

My post might have offended some people but I'd rather say something useful than beat around the bush.

Assalam Aleekom

I understand your statement, i know its difficult.

in my country where i live, the women are free.

But i visited qatar, and i have a great respect for your people!

Here you can do what ever you want when you are a women, but also there is a lot of crime here!

I noticed in qatar its clean, no men that harrest you when you walk on the street, i saw no crimes..

So freedom isnt always so nice..

But i agree your statement that is isnt fair that the girls cant go clubbing and the men can.

I dont think you can do mutch about it,i only can hope for you, that when you are older you may have a nice modern man, that wil give you some more freedom than you have right now.

Maybe you can go to some clubs when you are on a holliday with him...

Is it also not alwowed when you go with you brother or so??

i hope i"ll hear from you!

It is really an envy wherein you can see other Western girls, Leb'nse, Phils, etc....walk along with sorts of freedom and liberation. They can easily express their thoughts & talents by way of fashion and lifestyle, career, personal preferences, hang-outs and alike. The bottom-line is we need to respect, whatever or wherever society you belong to. Think again, and you might also see the things that make other girls like you HAPPY & CONTENTED with what they are and to where they belong to. Good Luck.

Subhanallah Superwoman, repent my dear sister of Islamic faith. You may be young, but that does not mean that you should disregard the guidance and teachings of our religion. If I were you, I will take the comments from 007 as a challenge. Being young doesnt mean that you cannot enjoy life. There are many ways to do it not necessarily by clubbing, drinking alcohol and stuff like that. Consider the comments by 007 wisely and you'll be a better person. If you evaluate whatever feedback you receive in a positive way the result will be to your benefit, you'll grow-up wiser and honourable. However, if you evaluate it the opposite way, than only you'll benefit the opposite of good. Heed my advise. Allah knows what is best for everyone. By wanting to do the opposite of the teachings of Islam, in my view you are challenging God. That's why in my 1st sentence above I suggest you to repent. Don't spoil your youth unnecessarily, you'll regret doing it when you're more matured. Through the years, I've seen many young girls like you regretted for doing the things that they are not supposed to. There are wise non Muslim girls who regretted for not being a Muslim much earlier. Reason being should they be born a Muslim, her pride and dignity as a young woman is secured.

Islam is a religion of free will and nobody can force it on you!

Religion is totally different than Culture and traditions are not culture! Every country has different Cultures and every family practices different tradition. Religion is neither Culture nor Tradition, all though people do mix them.

You say you are Muslim but you don’t believe in its rules? Then don’t call yourself Muslim!

Islam is not a curse it is a privilege. Guidelines are for our protection, not to take away from us! You can drink alcohol if this is what you choose! But there is a consequence for it on the Day of Judgment (or do you not believe in this either?)

Every machine you buy in a store comes with a manual. If you follow your manual then your product will run well and last longer. Quran and hadith are a Muslims manual, follow it and you will be protected and live in paradise.

Neither Qatari girls nor any other girls have to be a copy of something they are not. Sorry to say but I have yet to meet a prefect or even near perfect Qatari girl! If you know of one please let me know because I have a son.

As for the marriage statement you made? I see young married Qatari couples out all the time discussing their big wedding day. They are going out together to movies and dinners and getting to know each other mentally, sometimes for a year or two before living together.

If you respect your parents then you trust their judgments. No one loves you more than your parent’s girl! Ok, lets say you have horrible parents and they wish you were never born. This doesn't give you the right to rebel against right from wrong?

What is the purpose behind going to clubs? you said you do not openly go against Islam in public! what is this about then? Only bad comes out of that kind of these actions. Why go??? to show off your body to socialize with the opposit sex, to drink alcohol, to make a total fool out of yourself and your family.

The boys that go to these places? Who wants a used up boy that has shared himself with many other women? knowing clearly that this is wrong in manners and religion. What a waste! I wouldnt pick one of those for my daughters.

The good for the good, the bad for the bad! If a man comes for one of your daughters and you are pleased with his religion and manners marry them! This is in our mannual showing us how to choose.

Double standards, Yes there are double standards going on here and everywhere else, not just Muslim countries.

Open your eyes up and do not be small minded like a child! We will all be judged on the Day of Judgment for our intentions and actions. Both male and female will get books given to them, no double standards there.

If you’re good deeds weigh heavier than your bad ones, you’re destined for Jinnah, but if you’re bad actions are heavier? You are ordained to hell! These are not my guidelines! These are your creator’s guidelines.

From every point you are complaining about in your disturbing letter you wrote, your bad actions stand out by far! But you don’t need to be judged by me! Allah is the best one for this. I’ll pray for you.

Muslims are not unethical and unjust...

However in many cases, Islam does specify different set of rules for men and women separately....shall we call that 'double standards'?

A big NO, why bcoz we know OUR creator, My LORD Allah understand and knows better and HE knows the BEST and WISE, suggested the best instructions for our own benefits.

NO WAYS, One consider that ISLAM allows men to visit Bars & have alcoholic drinks....Its Haram for all muslims.period

PM,

Just a minor observation to your latest comment.

One may say Islam is not unethical and unjust as one may say Muslims are not supposed to be unethical and unjust but no one can affirm that an entire group of people, in this case Muslims, are not unethical and unjust.

Allah yhdeki .. u thinks this is the true living of life?

why u ppl thinks about wht will happened this hour , or next day! or next week? why not thinking and going in a higher level of thinking? Islam banned these stuff ! for what exactly? because it is good? or what will happened after while bcz u got in to it? maybe our body needs it? or maybe we can live better with it? u will turn ur life miserable if u entered that way . so don`t

I have to disagree with you about the reasoning Qatari women aren't allowed in (because they can get pregnant). Even though Qatari men cannot GET pregnant, in Islam drinking is considered Haram and therefore this law should be applied equally (which is the whole point to begin with). furthermore, Qatari men can impregnate women and therefore have the same moral and ethical responsibility.

The bottom line is that if this is the rule because of Islam it should be applied equally to Qatari men and women. Making excuses for why it is not only makes Muslims appear to be something they are not -- unethical and unjust.

She should go and meet Qatar cultural and heritage & law ministers to discuss about the creation of liberal and free muslim society...rather moaning here and asking for solution or amend Laws to your very own convenience.

Even if I consume alcohol and use contraceptives; shall I stand at the rooftop and announce it publicly?

Fascinating.

Trying to enforce old cultural norms while educating the rising generation in new ones is bound to lead to the sort of cultural rebellion Superwoman represents.

How can you teach your children in English, in Western curriculum schools, let them watch the Cartoon Channel and then American teen soap operas, give them wi-fi internet devices, send them to the West for university education and then expect them to embrace the same thinking as their parents and grandparents?

Western liberal thought and Eastern illiberal cultural traditions will not coexist happily in the same mind.

But those who are promoting modernisation/Westernisation in the name of economic progress are themselves trapped in the mindset formed a generation or two ago, so they want to uphold the very norms that their policies and the pursuit of wealth are destroying.

I do think Superwoman is real and I think there will be more and more like her. She is unlucky to be caught between two cultures.

If you are Muslim, this means that you obey ALLAH and Profit Mohamed teaching and instruction, you should also believe in the live after death, which means to us Muslims, that we have to always think of the good and bad things we do on the scale of Islam.

Freedom in my point of view supposed to be priceless but it's not....for our freedom we've to sacrifice.... fristly we've to define what freedom we are talking about, we refer to the freedom that doesn't hurt others, just to be free and fair with ourselves and others.

religion restricts should count.

some customs doesn't belong to religion restrictions, even some customs can be counted against religion instructions. for example having a girl friend or a boy friend in many countries is something common, which i believe it contradict with the three main religions. etc....

I thought that the topic was closed but seems still, I wrote u before and I write u again, u should be proud to be a Muslim , u should proud to be a women and u should be proud to be a woman, and u should be glad of all of that , people at USA from different nations but when they got there citizenship they proud about it and they can do anything for America even if they got a citizenship one day before, the western girls and amirican girls when they be 18 years they kicked out from home and go to do what ever to support herself , the Muslims women family responsible about her till she get married and then her husband responsible about her expenses , and if she is working her money for herself she doesn’t have to pay anything from her salary for home(any Expenses ) unless she want to do that by her Choice, So tell me witch religion do that, and I saw at USA Police catch prostitutes at the street and take them to jail, why it is free country , cuz this bad infulance at people and they want to protect them and protect her too from this, and finding a decent job. And that what happened here u want to enter the club and if they allow u they will allow to all Qatari girls , I do not Know about u if u been allowed by your parents to go to club ,then another Qatari girls will escape from there home and enter the clubs . and then what happened there too many men too many drinks . I want to tell that the worst view I ever seen to see the drank girl and how she acting without her mind ( can do anything) .i am tell this again u have to be proud to be a Qatari woman and before of that u have to be proud that u are a Muslim and go back to God and be agood muslem women and SuperMuslemWoman and what ever God not allow u to do is for your benefits . الله يهديكي ) (

OTOsan said if he/she was not happy , ...

if he/she was not happy , doesnt mean that our religion is unfair .. its simply mean that he/she doesnt understand it well .

and what is exactly (Modern world) mean ??

just to follow our desires without any controll?? .. drinking .. dancing..as this girl wants ? having sex with out married?? escaping from Responsibilities.. or what is the exact meaning for that ??

Only faith is leading to happiness .. and GOD know whats better for us .. not our desires !!

Listen, dude…. I understand that there is no point to argue with you, coz no matter what i say, you will be singing same old song about faith …. But!!!

You are forgetting that first of all we are all just human beings, simple creatures with desires. And there is nothing wrong with that. There is nothing wrong, if a young, unmarried girl wants to go and have fun (before she gets married)

Talking about faith leading to happiness – speak for yourself. Or you don’t accept exceptions? What is her faith does not? Or it is just must?

You see, the problem here, that you are turning religion just as it is convenient for you. Everybody know, that there are clubs with hookers here. So, why it is ok for males to go and enjoy themselves, and it is not ok for girls?

I am not saying that everybody should go and have sex left and right, but it is proven that people can be just not suitable for sex with each other… can you imagine to marry some one, who does not please you in bed at all? Than you just suffer all your life. Well, the only thing I can say – poor, poor girl. Faith, God…she is just a young girl who wants to live to full extend. And why can’t you be faithful to God and go to the club at the same time? Clubbing is not a crime ( as far as I know…)

QatariLady, are you innocent? :)

There is a famous quote that says

"“If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, looks like a duck, it must be a duck”

source http://www.famousquotes.com/show/1051825/

10-15-20 years ago would you have dreamed any of the changes in Qatar would have occurred, especially as a lady?

Maybe you wouldn't have believed the realism of today had you been told about it in the past!

For me personally, and with no disrespect to others beliefs or creeds believe that Alcohol in Islam cannot be accepted. You will find that I debate this extensively in QL.

Allow me to remind you that HH challenged many taboos in the country, With reference to one of her most inspiring initial speeches saying " we need to challenge social taboos and lift this rigid veil of understanding"

Is it so farfetched that in light of the path the country has set for itself. With regards of the acceptance of Qatari males into bars you must accept that it will stir controversy being a contradiction in terms of the equality it prescribes????

DEAR EVERYONE....again in light of the spirit of debate SUPERGIRL says there is a double standard at play here, which clearly there is when Local guys are allowed to club and drink and Local girls aren't.

Lets take religion out of the mix and reassess her statement and outrage. Here she has a valid point and says either they all are allowed with NO DISCRIMINATION or the Qatari males are NO LONGER PERMITTED access.

Fair enough. She,Supergirl being a modern day gal and all, has aquired a different culture which is now adopted in Qatar for the sake of the expats and modernization, intergration development and what not.

Supergirl is saying that since They here in Qatar didn't put islamic beliefs into the equation when they allowed alcohol in the country and opened clubs for expats and for the male locals, she wants to point out that there is also a huge movement in the female locality that is being dicriminated against.

Why do the muslims here blame her? Hasn't the country been lobbying for equality? Schools are co-ed, work places, banks, women can drive and thats all just the begining

So I ask you all, why are you all battling superwoman ?

She meerly wants to point out that there is a huge part of society where the young generation who go to mixed schools and universities and work side by side with men also want the same luxuries their government is offering the men. She is saying that only during the day she is an equal and what about her evenings?

Supergirl has said that there are many girls like her.

Join forces other Qatari girls that you say are plentiful and challenge these double standards and ask of the Sheikha for her support, which im sure she will give when you take that step.

Exiled saint , i wouldn't mind discussing Islam, but as you can see from the new QL guidelines it has to be discussed in another forum where i would glady oblige.

The point here is that this poor creature is questioning equality and the double standards of the country.

Now it dawned on me this morning that the same Governmental officials who allow Qatari men to go clubbing and drinking may not be awear that there is a huge local demand by Qatari women whom obviously want to enjoy the same luxury.

Otherwise wouldn't you agree that like other things in Qatar it would be a huge hypocricy that the country advocates equality and doesnt practice it when it comes to an adults personal choice?

Who am I or anyone to judge, Only God can judge!

You're obviously a big girl who knows what you want and has no problem expressing yourself.

Far be it for me to tell you not to......in fact I can see now that obviously this is your right and the country is heading towards liberation from any and all constraints

They can't do everything for you!

I say you openly demand the equality they have left it in your hands and the capable hands of other Qatari girls that you say are plentifull.

Join forces and challenge these double standards and ask of for support.

If I can see the light so will others, Join forces with your girlfriends and call the morning program Watani ilhabeeb sabah ilkheir, why not publish an article in western news papers I can bet you journalists are probably dying to cover this, its the next big thing after the bra burning suffrogettes

A lot of these replies are immature, and yet here you were opening up about some rather personal stuff.

All i'm saying is that you can still have fun because honestly, the clubs here suck, and even if you feel "freedom" is being able to choose to go or not to a club, the truth is, the damage can be far worse by going! Qatari men go there, so imagine one of them recognizes you? Actually that's what started the law in the first place. But, if you fancy a drink, you can always do it privately, at friends' houses, or house parties, after parties, and you'd feel better meeting new people there than in a place where people might say "oh my god, you're the first Qatari girl I meet who goes out"..

There are many local Arabic forums, where you'll find different opinions & perspective from Qataris. Some are Conservative, liberal or even Atheist. Some issues about democracy & secularism are discussed in an open ground. Although in some point, it turns into liberal/west bashing and the whole big conspiracy theory.

The answer to your question, the father (or guardian) consent is a must.Lately there have been some flexibility as the consent latter can be permanently attached to the passport ( off course this is with the father's approval)

thank you for your input, it adds new facts to the discussion. However that was not exactly the question posed. We seem to know that women can travel independently without husbands by law. And that 18-25 year old single women need there fathers permission to travel.

What I am trying to find out, for example, is if a 26 year old single woman can independently apply for, and recieve, a passport with no male involvement at all BY LAW? The permission to travel is granted by the passport, what the question is, does the granting of a passport need male authority?

Thanks again

Adey.. Why is it hard for you to believe that we don't know if a grown up woman can have a passport without a male consent?

I don't know if there ever has been a Qatari woman who found herself suddenly without a passport. Like I said Qatari women get their passports immediately after birth.

Your wife needs your signature for everything because she's an expat and you're her sponsor.

I can buy whatever I want without any male consent. I own a business and my male relatives know nothing about it except what I chat with them about.

I own some stocks and they're in my name..I trade stocks myself .. One of my brothers opened an account for me the first time but it was a favor not a legal requirement. Minors need their fathers signature to open bank accounts and to buy stocks but not women over 21.

Many women own real estate and businesses as well and trade in them themselves.

You may see no problem in that but have you ever stopped to think that some Qatari women may see a problem in that?

Or are they just expected to 'shut up', as has been the response to the original post which questioned the rights of gender discrimination for Qatari women.

Now, this is of course a task for Qataris alone but everyone is entitled to an opinion and I would expect Qatari males would find it more difficult to morally blackmail me and tell me to shut up than a Qatari woman posting here. btw I don't include you amongst that baying mob.

That is just typical of what those who voice their opinion here have to put up with.

Actually it is my wife who was really bothered by all of this, but no the society of another country should not be revamped because of a few foreigners. However there is pressure from within the society for change but a lot of influential people want to remain in control and keep the status quo......

I'm not here to change the world or even Qatar, just to earn a few bucks and go home. I know the rules, they pay me to do a job, no citenzship ever and I am expected to keep quiet and go home peacefully. This is what I shall do.

As for women who want to work as strippers. If that is their choice then I have no problem with it. Same with prostitutes. However if they are forced into doing it by others then that is wrong of course.

CBD - can you give me a yes or no answer or will you try to evade the question?

It is not a difficult question to answer.

Funny I am not Qatari or Arab, but when I asked my wife to get my daughter's birth certificate there first reply was where is your husband he should do this. I had to call and shout down the phone before they would do it...

Its one of the things my wife hates about this country, as a woman you are discrimated against either legally or culturally every day.

For example when she wanted to buy a car, to register it she had to get a letter of no objection from me, when she wanted to work, she had to get a letter of no objection from me...

All very interesting. If Superwoman is a Qatari or not and I have no evidence either way I she made a fundamental mistake in her post. If she had just posted about the blantant discrimination against entry to clubs rather than saying she drinks and doesn't alway wear the hijab the response may have been kinder to her. Interestingly the Qatari women I spoke to about this agree that she should not be allowed to enter clubs here which did surprise me but does under line the conservative theme that runs through this country. (However there other statement is go to a different country on holiday and you can have as much fun as you want, which kinda smacks of double standards...)

For the man raising honour killings and trying to justify them, well you my friend are a sick individual. If you think the intentional murder of female relevatives is justified then you are not a man of God, you work for the devil. I am just trying to asses what is legally allowed for women as oppossed to men - this has nothing to do with family preference, culture or religion - but what the law states and how it legally descriminates against women in certain fields.

Again for the forth time - can a grown woman apply for and recieve a passport, not a renewal then, without the permission counter signed by a male relative?

Adey..

We get our passports at a very young age so we definitely need the father's signature :) for renewal I don't remember having any man's signature or approval. We just fill out the needed forms ourselves.

It is legal for a woman above 25 to travel without a man's permission (at least so I've heard.. never tried it myself).. however in every Qatari household you'll find different views and practices. In my family I can get on board a plane all by myself provided that I don't stay abroad without relatives..they could be cousins (females) ..they could be in-laws etc.

In my husband's family it's more strict..

I know other families who pemit their daughters (even below 25) to study abraod without a chaperone.

Again.. no one-fits-all rule..

By adey• 24 Oct 2009 08:21

Is there ever a time when a Qatari lady is ever held legally responsible for herself? After the age of 18 or 21 say?, when she can do all things without some males permission or counter signature?

The answer is no, you cannot get a passport at anytime in your life without a male relatives permission.

As you are a Qatari prehaps you would be honest and enlighten us as to what you cant do without male permission? - do you need a males permission to recieve hospital treatment as in Saudi? I would hope not as I do believe nowhere could be backward as Saudi.

My objection was on the term 'property'.

And I'm not quite sure what you mean by "is it not the case that after 9 the father is legally responsible for the daighter until marraige?"

All fathers (and mothers) all over the world are responsible for their children. If you mean that in the case of a divorce the daughter moves in her father's home, then this rule is not a one-size-fits-all situation. It depends.. If the mother remarries the daughter lives with her father to protect her against any possible sexual abuse.

if the mother remains single the daughter can live with her forever. Yes the father is legally and financially responsible but this doesn't mean she's his property.

I was in my father's responsibility until he died 10 years back and I was well over 21 but never felt I was his property. I still pray for him and wish he were alive. His responsibility did not make me hate my life. Plus, I have four older brothers with whom I've had conflicts and arguments but never hated that they're legally responsible for me.

Now I'm married to a VERY, VERY conservative husband but I still live my life pretty well. I have a chance to fulfil my dreams and plan for my life within boundaries and it works just fine in the long run.

Life is not about doing EVERYTHING we want but making the best out of what we have.

Breaking all rules isn't necessary getting us to be what we deserve..Least of all CLUBBING :-/

And you forget Islamic law, is it not the case that after 9 the father is legally responsible for the daighter until marraige?

You can not cherry pick that which is Islamic one minute then say this is not the law of the land the next - which is the argument regarding consumption of alcohol by females(qatari ones)

i took my time to read through this thread and am slightly shocked that QL user PM is a Muslim because her posts conflict what i have known this far about Islam.

what was even stranger is the lack of debate. basically its all arguments in personal levels taken quite sensitively by a few of the users. let me point out the funny part - when a user fails to continue with the pointless 'argument' they tend to deviate towards language proficiency. lol

now since i have read the whole thread which i doubt anyone else actually did (it took me almost an hour), i think the fair conclusion would be:

Qatari Men should be denied entry to premises serving alcohol just like the Qatari Women.

having the above rule applied, what i was wondering is... would they consider to ban alcohol completely?

easy to answer

all your drinking and driving as well as drugs etc laws apply to BOTH men and women.

secondly, your freedom to over eat may hurt me as you may have a heart attack at the wheel of your car due to your potential obesity, your car may career across the sidewalk where I may be walking and you might end my life.

These are all potential consequences, they haven't happened yet....but by your logic we should close all restuarants and strictly enforce all diets and portion sizes of all home cooked meals....Just in case.

So your freedom to over eat hurts me.

qatar is considered as islamic country and follows the islamic rules .

since drinking is against islam rules then it should be prohibited in all areas for muslims .

and any action against that could hurt the other muslims by breaking these rules "men and women"

and if you are saying that only "potential hurt" then why they prohibited drunk people to drive in all the countries , it stays potential , they didn't kill some one YET.

what about drugs? it damages the societies , why they prohibit dealing with it , and in some countries they prohibit also drinking it?

the "high" person didn't hurt himself or others YET.

"Freedom of person stops when it hurts the others"

What hurt to others could a Qatari woman do by going to a club that could not be done by a Qatari man?

Also this statement is only true of actual hurt not potential hurt - otherwise everything would have to be restricted. You cant legislate for what might happen in a few cases to cover everyone.

CBD - good to see you back, but I cant really debate with you because you always seem to write in riddles without really saying anything. I'm not being rude, prehaps it's me but i can never fathom what it is you actually mean.

PM,

If we are talking about legitimacy then many things will work in our favour which is to make things more conservative, this is number 1.

Number 2, what are you basing legitimacy upon? to allow people to go and drink!! something the west is losing fortune on just to benefit some big thieves and merchants!!

I am against Qatari men drinking anyway let alone allowing them to!

I personally believe if you want laws to prevent Qataris from drinking it should be applied to all Muslims, since presumably you are basing that decision on the interpretation of Islamic law.

After all, legally they are pretty much the property of their fathers, husbands or brothers so it is understandable to me that the views expressed by superwoman as a Qataria may not be consistent with what you are used to and expect.

I find this thread dragging me and I already tried to stay away but it is hurting me! Honestly, I believe superwoman is not worthy of our attention and my post replies here are to educate those who know nothing or little!

I may not have answered if it was someone else but to your question..my answer is..we know our people and know the nitty gritty of our society..Superwoman is either non Qatari or a ruined one who lived under extreme conditions and who is not representative of Qatari girls nor is welcomed with here poisoning calls!

Simply you may refer to Qatari girls in this thread to see for yourself!

A THREAD??? But this a reply on a thread here on QL. My reply is not a thread at all -- it is part of a thread.

Do you mean "threat"? If you do I would ask you what you find "threatening" about ANYTHING I have written to you?

As for double standards, I am not denying anything. I don't like the way you treat me on QL and am admittedly treating you the same way. No double standard there. I am giving you exactly what you dish out -- and deserve.

and again if you understood English clearly, you would know that "It is not uncommon among Arab men of a certain type and educational background" does not GENERALIZE about Arab men. It refers to a specific type that exists. You are in the group in my opinion. That doesn't imply ALL Arab men are like that.

If you don't understand my English, just ask for a clarification.

Great ,

As a muslim when we see wrong or corruption , we tried to correct it , and if we can't we say it is wrong , if we can't we believe it is wrong.

it is not about man and woman here.

i didn't see in any of your posts that also "muslim" men should not be allowed to enter clubs because it is against our religion , instead you are debating in the same side of the woman (which is good) but calling her to go clubbing )

Do you think that as a "muslim " this is right?

instead of keeping them away of haram , you are increasing the ability to let the community accept the qatari woman to club.

and if you wanted really to help women , there is 100 cause better than this, and you can open 1000 threads about this .

and you will find me the first one who will support you but under the rules of islam as me and you believe .

I fully understand your feelings. I admire you for writing and letting your feelings or stand known.

I do agree that your country has this double standard laws, that it is racist.

Why not be an instrument of changes here in your country? Establish yourself till you reach the position or situation to influence, and urge people in authority to make this double standard laws fair.

In fairness, the double standard that you are complaining about is also true in the whole wide world. The only difference is that it is subtly hidden, or sugarly coated as we see it.

Let us take for example the rich and the poor, the wise and the fool. The rich can buy luxurious car as many as they can afford it, the poor wants to buy also but not allowed by the so called money. The wise can speak and people will appreciate what he will say. The fool can also speak and be heard of, but to be mocked later on.

Be an agent of change to your country. if you can't enjoy it today your children will.

1st of all I need u to understand it took a time for me to wrote this ,just like to advice u if u will concern to it or not will be ur issue,,

I need u to open ur mind

I want to tell u am shock to read what u wrote , yes it's good to be developed and open mind still lets c it from another window ,

Do u think all Arab girls (not only Qatari) girls r ready for what u ask for?

With all their culture and history , do u believe they will understand the freedom as western girls? They will be safe? They will not lose the Road?

Its not religion issue by the way its culture and 100's of years of programs inside us which still need long time to be changed ?

i spend good time in Europe and u will find 2 types of peoples , some will celebrate the week end and be successful in their life most (girls) lost the way and discoverd that only after they become old and find their self at least alone!! ,,

believe me,, am sure when the government took this step this was and still to protect u and other girls from being in risk,(RISK) even from the chance to be in risk , this is good ,

even if u lets say will not lose the way with ur modern mind , others 85% will ?

do u got it???

Let us look from another window which u never look?

U care to be male not female?!!!

I need u to have a look to other nations problems , peoples suffer just to survive , peoples lost their lands , peoples die from hunger , tack deep look and (think to think) in something bigger , work with human rights ? why not?

I think if u allow me its ur friends who miss the windows for u , its nice to celebrate and u can arrange parties any time as privet as u wish still , why u want this to be discuss in public ? why u want some (not ready )girls mind to read this ? am sure u will not be happy if some of them lost the way cos something u wrote ..

In some stage of ur life will tack the wrong steps cos some wrong doors were open in the wrong time ? what u will prefer about those doors ?

I believe better to be closed or not even exist at all.

By they end be sure I respect ur mind and thinking as every1 have the right to think and others will always try to guide (if they care),, yeb?

Good luck

Brava! PM, I can't say i'm shocked you're beating them off with a stick, Quite the Femme Fatale are you?

I am obsessed with RAND??? Provide a link, a quote to back your accusation. This is the very first time I have mentioned RAND! Why is there something we shouldn't know?

I did a wee background check on you honey, interestingly according to QL legend (and archives) there is a long list of people who accuse you of pretending to be something you're not! Now this explains why you are taking it out on me :)

I have no interest in this sterile bickering, because I know you are only doing this to compromise thelovely integrity and truly insightful thread.

It's a dead giveaway.

But I don't dine with strangers -- men or Qatari women pretending to be married American men. Thanks anyway! :-P

Qatarilady..Why thank you for admiring me! I'm not really into this tough love style.

So don't hold you're breath waiting for me to reciprocate your feelings...I don't see it happening in the near future, But then again, you're welcome to try ;)

PM...What intelligence? j/k lol

How intriguing and novel this software is to the region: A RAND creation? Maybe you can program it to finish the road works in La La land :p

I would invite you to a candle light dinner, which would be a more civilized approach for getting to know me, but I doubt my wife would approve :(

This thread has lost its meaning of tolerance and coexistence and non discrimination. I have nothing more to add here.

our intelligence with this charade. Besides, what's wrong with being Qatarita?

BTW, did you know there are author recognition softwares that help you identify people by their writing? I've heard many universities are using it now to insure their papers are actually written by the students submitting them.

And Dali I agree with you that HH shouldn't have allowed the photographers to take this picture anyway as HH is a role model to many young girls..

Is this according to your standards????? Because you appear to be in contradiction.

Frankly dear, you are quite aggressive not only towards me but it is YOU who is bashing Her Highness Sheikha Mozah.

I remind you that you are in no position to disagree with her allowing her beautiful photo to be taken that shows her lifestyle, because according to YOU it depicts a negative role model to young girls.

Im beginning to think you must be this qtarita person, tsk tsk

Her Highness is the epitome of fashion, social and traditional reform, a beacon of contemporary Islamic values. She doesn't only symbolize an icon for young ladies but she ushers in the Moderate Muslim movement carefully calculated through Rand for Qatar.

Judging by your response your old school creed and values are being systematically replaced by a new set. I may be wrong but it appears as though you object to Rand cultivating your countries values?

I think you wrote that in another thread.

Well relax, its not like you will be accountable on the day of all days, now are you?

QatariLady, So are you racist towards Americans or just those who didn't take you seriously enough to spell check prior to posting? I'm more concerned about what's being said. But that's just me.

Plus I haven't said I disagree with HH lifestyle and right to have her picture taken on the contrary, it's a beautiful picture on so many levels :)

While you're on your crusade complaining to National security, please don't forget to rant that I didn't spell check for you and more importantly about, according to you the Sheikhas unwise decision to take the picture that shows her (according to your high standards) is a bad role model! I hear these matters are ranked way up alongside fighting terrorism :)

It would be nice to see the day that you just appreciate her work and respect her choices...

I agree to what Aisha has said above. I believe each and every thing in this universe has double aspects. It could be positive as well as on the other side it could be negative. I suggest you should take things or happenings from their POSITIVE ASPECT. This would create patience in you and will let your will-power to boost you for good things in better ways.
