First, even though Canada is not affected by crisis as much as other wealthy countries, it definitely affected more than Qatar. So it doesn't make sense to immigrate to Canada "due to the economic down turn"..
Second, it sounds like if you franceb have a chance to finalize your immigration process within couple of months… do you know that the process takes at very least 2 years, if you are lucky? Who knows where will be Qatar and Canada by that time..
Third, in order to submit the application for the immigration you have to be evaluated on 6 factors and to get certain amount of points to be qualified. But, even the fact of reaching the pass mark does not guarantee receiving the status of landed immigrant automatically.
As per cost of living, I agree with jayderinoz, except of may be one point. For the family of 3 I would put the minimum budget a bit higher, up to 2700-3000 CAD (which is about QR8500-10,000). As jayderinoz said, 2 br apartment is about -1200 CAD ( 3300-3900 QR), Grocery is around 500-700CAD (1600-1900 QR), plus car/clothes/entertainment, etc. is about 700- 1000 CAD.
Now don’t forget, in this “family of 3” usually both parents are working. Minimum salary in Canada is about CAD1300-1400. So even if both parents are working in Mcdonalds, they still will be able to keep up with the basic lifestyle. And if they worked in a decent company for the decent salary,- let’s say, the man gets 3500 CAD and the wife’s salary is 2500 CAD(which is easy to get!), - the family’s monthly income is 6000 CAD, which is already not too bad…
Did you guys notice one comment ? ottawa said, he ”bought a 4-bedroom house with 2 car garage last year for $300K”… 300K is about 1MLN QR. Just to compare: 1br tiny skiny apartment-cell in Perl(Doha) would cost you twice as much.… :)
