you can play online shooters with a Ping of 200 but I don't play as well, because you really notice the difference. People with a Ping of 50 on the Server see you just a slpit second earlier, then you can see them and that often makes a difference. Also when you shoot at a certain point where the game shows you the enemie is, hes might already have moved away just enough for you to miss. When they move, the signal has to reach the server, and then the server send out a signal to you pc. With a Ping of 200 that takes a bit longer then if you Ping is 50 ;) So you do have an advantage with a lower Ping.
