I think as long as the criticism is targeted at correcting the understanding of people backed by reason, it is acceptable. But if it is targeted at making the fun of beliefs or hurting people, it is not. That should be clear for the critics.
Maybe advocate is a palestinian and speaking for his people. What does that have to do with the tolerance of Islam bashing which is universal?
