Qantas, the Australian flag carrier, was named 3 in the global top 10.

Many Australians have the same view of Qantas that residents of Qatar have of Qatar Airways. Apparently it's not uncommon.

Here's a quote from a news article

But Skytrax chief executive Edward Plaisted said "We do find that many countries' flag-carrier airlines suffer fairly vitriolic levels of reporting in their local regions, and the airline industry remains a business that some areas of the press seem to love to hate."

I wouldn't say QA is a bad airline, it's just that I don't think they are worth the extra money. I think Emirates is just as good, if not better, and in every case I've flown with them, they have been much cheaper than QA.

I really don't see the appeal of the '5-star' airline marketing tag. Air travel is so over priced anyway that all I'm looking for is a comfortable, punctual and polite service to get me from A to B. I can't see the point in paying 5 star prices. Air travel is not disimilar to bus travel these days. I'm after value, not a 5 star service.
