Oh yes, anyone can get a QA 'Privilege Card' but in reality it means nothing and affords you no privileges at all!

You will still find yourself at the back of economy class even if you booked seats at the front end three months in advance!

Please wake up people...

when we traveled from US to Doha but got it back after 2 days and most of the time our flight from London to US has been cancelled for some reasons but we are still flying with QA.

a good airline, I enjoyed flying with them. While my Emirates flight delayed an hour, and it was nothing extraordinary. QR cabin crew were really nice, I had good time onboard. It's a different thing how they treat their staff unfortunately.

QA sucks!!

I was travelling to Singapore with my wife (who had a hand fracture) and my young child. They gave us seats one row apart. I told the airhostess to get me a seat near them, because my wife cannot take care of the kid with her fractured hand. "Sir, Please remain seated, at least you are not very far from them" she answered.

I simply shifted over to the vacant seat near them, and told the guy who was supposed to sit there of my problem. He graciously moved to another seat.

All QA staff are rude, from the luggage handlers, to the checkin agents , to the flight attendents. They deserve their ugly uniforms:):)

No unfortunate experiences with QA so far.... they always upgraded my flight to business class and customer service was excellent.... I dont know with the economy class....

HHmm... QR is a relatively fine airline, I was upgraded twice but the on board services is not that good.

Cheers

They use to miss my luggage (but thanks god always get it back in 2-3 days), every time when I travelled via London with BA. BA from Toronto to London, and then QR would take over this flight from London to Doha. I am not sure whose fault was it, either BA or QA, but i stopped liking both of them.. :)

..it never happens anymore, coz now i travel with Lufthansa. By the way, Lufthansa and KLM are the best so far, in my opinion…

Speaking of travelling in Gulf area, I definitely prefer Emirates.

but to be honest, I think QA are improving. Last time I had to fly with them in the beginning of October, and I can say I got a very good impression...

Wow, I have never seen that many negative things about QA before. You guy's and girls must be widely traveled since you can say things like this. QA is not the greatest Airline YET, but It can be. As all young Companies it got growing problems, becoming to big to quick. You guy's can't be real, the Company is more than average good, and Skytrax proves that. It is better or equal to most European Airlines(I've flown with them all), it is better than the various American Airlines(and a lot safer), Comparing to Asian Ailines, it is average, not far from the Top, but far from the Bottom.

they've always been nice to me on board.

(except once when one was rude).

Their after sales and telephone service in Qatar is RUBBISH though.

Qatar Airways in Japan and China was AMAZING though. WHy can't Qatar Airways have great staff at their branches in QATAR?

to UK and back in the 18 months I've been here. I've always found it to be perfectly OK. Not had any complaints about it, anyway. The flight is practically door-to-door and suits me fine.

I was a BIT confused on last flight to Doha though, because I was given an Asian vegetarian meal, which consisted of two slices of tomato and a couple of slices of cucumber squashed between two slices of dry bread.

I had a giggle with the hostie about it, cos the majority of passengers were Indians and/or Pakistanis and I could see THEY weren't eating Asian veggie meals. Ha! I must have been served my 'snack' after they had turned their noses up at the Asian option.

Too funny. But to give the stewardess her due, she did offer me a second slice of chocolate cake as compensation.

I used to like BA but not anymore. American Airlines is really bad. The cabin crew are old dragons covered in make-up that snarl at you.

Recently I flew QA from Washington DC to Doha. It was a really good flight with good service. And I think the food is pretty good too for airline food. Plus the cabin crew are generally pleasant and helpful.

Just call me Tigasin. That's what I'm talking about

Most of the time i used to travel on QA and its ok... Services are fine but some times it becomes difficult to deal with QA as polices are more stringent than other air lines...

Qantas, the Australian flag carrier, was named 3 in the global top 10.

Many Australians have the same view of Qantas that residents of Qatar have of Qatar Airways. Apparently it's not uncommon.

Here's a quote from a news article

But Skytrax chief executive Edward Plaisted said "We do find that many countries' flag-carrier airlines suffer fairly vitriolic levels of reporting in their local regions, and the airline industry remains a business that some areas of the press seem to love to hate."

http://www.news.com.au/travel/story/0,26058,24168517-5014090,00.html

I wouldn't say QA is a bad airline, it's just that I don't think they are worth the extra money. I think Emirates is just as good, if not better, and in every case I've flown with them, they have been much cheaper than QA.

I really don't see the appeal of the '5-star' airline marketing tag. Air travel is so over priced anyway that all I'm looking for is a comfortable, punctual and polite service to get me from A to B. I can't see the point in paying 5 star prices. Air travel is not disimilar to bus travel these days. I'm after value, not a 5 star service.

bad.

i've never walked off a QA flight thinking WOW but i have never walked off thinking that was terrible either.

our recent trip on turkish was a joke.

air canada sucks too, and the american airlines are also crap.

i flew singapore years ago and they were fantastic. i hear emirates if also good. but at worst QA is not bad.

QA is the worst airlines ever... they screwed up my tickets at check in and gave me a boarding ticket in another passenger's name and when I noticed and asked for the right boarding they said sorry the passenger came and sat and all the plane is full and u will have to wait four hours for the next flight !!! where is my booking ??? It has been cancelled ...What should I do then ??? Sir .. you can post a complain this is your right ... really ....ohh thank you very much for your kind advice ....a wonderful experiance with QA ... have fun flying with the 5 star airline...QA

The hostesses, seemed more interested in giving the Nationals a preferred seat, MINE, in spite of my booking the seat of my choice some 2 weeks in advance, when I came to boarding the flight, and claiming my galley aisle seat, I find it was allocated to a "national" lady. I was relegated to a cramped window seat, and suffered because of it..ie 6 hours crammed into small space in economy. Even though they say you can select your seating etc prior to travelling DON'T believe it will always happen..

P.S hope the Qatari national enjoyed my seat, and was comfortable..cause I wasn't. I fly Emirates mainly, now, because of this blatant oversight.

... take time out to vote for your favourite airline?

I didn't think so.

I did though. As a Frequent Flyer member for Emirates, Gulf and QA, I received an email from each asking me to vote for them.

If you are not a FF card holder, I suggest you fill out a form now. They are free and available on each airline's web site.

You may find that as a member you also get a little more courtesy when checking in as well as in flight :o)

Just my 2c.

we have our own perceptions and beliefs in meeting our expectations. though thousand or millions voted for that matter, it doesn't count for me as long as they don't meet my expectation. five star airline, simply because of the airline only (excluding staff/s). same as intercon Doha, it's a five star hotel but the management has no star. can u believe that? criteria varies the ratings so possible to reach those if you've got the facilities, amenities, etc. but disregard the support staff and so on....

15 million people voted for Qatar Airways, so it must be the best.

And the majority of Americans voted for George W Bush. So he must be the best too.

I don't need to be told by 15,000,000 other people whether or not I like an airline. I am capable of reaching that decision myself.

ummmm...actually it's been a bad year for mr albaker despite the propaganda. What the article does not mention is that QR has slipped 3 places to seventh best airline and lost the 'best first class award'.

For an airline that calls itself the worlds 5 star airline, a few regional awards is a we bit poor!

Now if I HAVE to fly QA, I just carry my own - own food, own juice, own headphones, the works. :)

Their service most def. sucks!
