Maybe just maybe the IOC meant what they said - Doha was eliminated because of the desire to hold the olympics in October. Maybe the IOC feels that it will lose valuable advertising because it will be difficult to compete for a decent share of the televised market because of the major professional sports that are traditionally broadcast in October.

I don't for second believe that Doha's alleged need for better infrastructure/number of hotel rooms were the reason - if that were the case they would not have made it as far as they did. Neither do I buy into the terrorism issue. I think recent history proves that occurs EVERYWHERE and any city hosting the Olympics will have to deal with it.

I really do believe it is cold, hard cash that is the cause. Of course I am sure there will be those who disagree. :)
