Maybe you're right DG, though I've heard of parents being charged for less serious incidents than this. Unfortenately, a lot of the time it has to do with the class of the people involved. Look at the McCann's - I always thought it was odd in the early days of the case that everyone just got behind them, instead of lambasting them for being negligent parents. I think it would have been a different story if they were a working class family from a Liverpool council estate, for example. Or perhaps that's just the cynic in me.
