It's the age old battle of doing what you think is right!  Unfortunately, many do not possess the mental capability to decide what is right or wrong for themselves, never mind their children and so are cruel without fully understanding that they are doing so.

Also, everyone's idea and comprehension of "Love" is different!  Some believe that because you give birth to someone, they are yours to own and as a possession, they are loved.  This is not love as I understand it!

You can be "attached" to garden furniture but not love it!   Too many people cannot distinguish the difference!

IMHO
