There' are standard dimensions for max. checin paggage size. for some route/ e.g. trans atlantic; there is piece concept as well.
However, in your case you better check with airline baggage policy, and you'll always find a counter with "Over size baggage" written on top of it at any airport. You just need to go to them alteast 6-8 hours before your flight to get your package onboard on time.
I think, your TV would be considered as CARGO, they will charge you good, per kg, PLUS i guess you might face a custome duty imposed, when you reach home.
