Hi. We also bought from IKEA relatively recently--back in April--and the process is exactly as Mirella describes it. Overall, it's very simple and painless, but not cheap. Depending on how heavy and/or bulky your purchases are, you should probably count on delivery and customs duties adding up to 15-20% of your total. As Mirella noted, Aramex uses volumetric weight, so the shipping cost of something relatively light in relation to its volume (like a sofa) can greatly exceed the per kilogram rate that Aramex will quote you.

Here are a couple of points to bear in mind: (1) Aramex will ship only furniture, so if you buy linens, lamps, kitchenware, etc., you'll need to carry it home; and (2) the customs duties will be based on the total that's shown on your receipt regardless of whether Aramex actually ships all of it. (Aramex hadn't mentioned either of the above to me when I contacted them before our IKEA trip.) If you buy some things to carry home, you can save on customs duties by putting your furniture on a separate receipt.
