Has anyone bought furniture from Ikea Dubai and shipped it to Doha recently?

I am looking for some recommendations for cargo agents to send my Ikea stuff from Dubai to Doha. I have only recently arrived in Doha and need to buy a few pieces of furniture. After hunting for days here, I've decided to make a trip to Dubai and buy and ship. Any ideas about how much it would cost to go down this route? Any advice in this matter is welcome. Thanks.

Hi. We also bought from IKEA relatively recently--back in April--and the process is exactly as Mirella describes it. Overall, it's very simple and painless, but not cheap. Depending on how heavy and/or bulky your purchases are, you should probably count on delivery and customs duties adding up to 15-20% of your total. As Mirella noted, Aramex uses volumetric weight, so the shipping cost of something relatively light in relation to its volume (like a sofa) can greatly exceed the per kilogram rate that Aramex will quote you.

Here are a couple of points to bear in mind: (1) Aramex will ship only furniture, so if you buy linens, lamps, kitchenware, etc., you'll need to carry it home; and (2) the customs duties will be based on the total that's shown on your receipt regardless of whether Aramex actually ships all of it. (Aramex hadn't mentioned either of the above to me when I contacted them before our IKEA trip.) If you buy some things to carry home, you can save on customs duties by putting your furniture on a separate receipt.

i did , i did not buy to get to doha , we had to move to doha,so got all furniture here and i would say its not worth it, more so when agents want to ship as is- without opening them -they do not travel well they become loose and even the unopened ones are not safe as they are prone to edges chipping

Yes. I did. A couple of weeks ago. It is very easy. You go do Ikea Dubai, you shop and after you pay (of course you tell the casher before invoicing) you go to the Delivery Service and ask them to ship the goods to Doha. Ikea has an agreement with ARAMEX. It took only 3-4 days for my goods to be home delivered in Doha. The Aramex person in charge of it in Doha is a very professional and efficient guy. I contacted him before going to Dubai to shop at Ikea, so he knew about it and he contacted his collegues in Dubai and he personally kept in touch with me till the goods were delivered.

Pricewise, things are a little bit different. It was not really cheap.

You have a minimum charge, plus a cost per kilo or volumetric weight whichever is higher, plus custom taxes, plus document legalization costs, plus the cost of goods packaging in pallets etc. It is a little bit coplicated to eplain in a few words, but

if you would like, please contact me. I would me more than happy to show you all the exact costs and give you the name and number of the Aramex person I dealed with.

I am new in Doha, so it would be really a pleasure to offer you a coffee while giving you all infos!!! And share the problems we have to deal with being new here!

I know one shipping company called Right Way (4666844), we used to deal with it for commercial items coming from Dubai, call them and check for prices and services,

Aramex will be the transporter, I assume it will depend on size and weight - if you can guesstimate those, you should be able to get an estimate from them.
